Close Call For the Focusaurus...

Dropped the car off this morning to have the timing belt changed. That was 8am.
About half eight I had a phonecall. First thing the mechanic said was "Your car was trying to commit scuicide"
Turns out the camshaft pullys are made of plastic, there was a crack in the exhaust cam pully. He said he noticed the crack, put a tiny bit of pressure sideways and it snapped. Few more miles and my engine would have been a gonner.
Damm! Why didn't I take it for a run last night

And whos stupid idea was it to make the pully out of plastic? Bet it was some stupid yank.
Ahh well, another £45 on two new pullys.

I don't understand the logic of plastic pullys? Whats wrong with metal ones. Never heard of an XUD cam pully fail

That would be why Sam was kicking himself for not taking it out for a blast... "if only I'd killed the engine on this bloody Ford so I could feel more justified in swapping back to a proper motor"

Car had it's timing belt changed along with two metal pullys fitted. Then got the wheel alignment done! Feeling allot nice to drive now
