Cheap Exhaust
Just come back from main stealers where I had to get key reprogrammed - cheaper than I thought!
Whilst they had the car they did a free Visual Health Check and amongst other things noted that the Exhaust backbox and and mid section heavily corroded.
They offered a Fitted Price inc VAT to remedy this individual problem.
The price quoted was £1,142.26
Is this a good deal?

Re: Cheap Exhaust
Put it into perspective - you could buy (potentially) 3 more complete 406s for as much as they're quoting for the exhaust pipe.
Their quote even beats Kwik-Fit's quote for a complete (rust-prone, mild steel) exhaust system - £480
Seriously, treat yourself to a little bit of fun - find a Powerflow* dealer near you and make an appointment with them. When you go for your appointment, get them to custom-design a stainless steel cat-back exhaust system for your car - you can tell them how you want it to sound (quiet, sporty, loud, etc.), and can even pick out an exhaust tip of your choosing, from a fair selection. They will give you a free lifetime warranty for the exhaust and fittings, and a free annual checkup. The entire cost of this service (including the materials, design, build, and fitting) is about £350, inclusive of VAT.
A well-built stainless steel exhaust system will outlast the car - no rust - it will improve the sound of the car, and will improve upon the OEM performance of the car. The only thing you will need to do is let your insurance company know you're fitting one.
* = Highlander is not paid to endorse Powerflow. Other stainless steel exhaust design companies are available (i.e. Longlife).

Re: Cheap Exhaust

Re: Cheap Exhaust
I fitted on OE back box to mine 2 years ago, as the original had lasted more than 6 years and I intended to keep the car for 4 - cost me £90 delivered. (I know you can buy then for about £30, but I didn't want to doit again). jasper5 got me a middle pipe the following year for about £40 fitted.

Re: Cheap Exhaust
I reckon that's a quote to 'gauge interest' and is for a *complete* eggsauce system including the flexi and CAT in which case kinda makes more sense but doesn't make it more reasonable for the money.
As far as I know dealers' service departments have to achieve a certain turnover of money, the 'Free' check will always throw up something needing doing - a bit like asking a national tyre chain to check if your brakes look ok
what do you think they'll say?
Actually, whoever made/makes the 'proper' eggsauces for Peugeots (the factory fitted stuff) is very likely to cost this kinda dough but that's why we have an after-market, err, market to cater for the after ma....err......
