Ive been lucky to get the kit, theres a drive, gps aeriel, bracket, relay, remote and then the display, and ill have to paint the surround to match. And if i was being fussy which will probably happen eventually the boot carpet it slightly different to have a flap for the sat nav.

i think its the ribbon which comes loose and looses lines. this heats the ribbon up and fixes the connections.

Have you had one apart to see? Often these damn ribbons are just pushed in, it might just be a case of pulling it out, giving it a clean and shoving it back. Sometimes they have a collar around the connector you push down to release the ribbon but I've not seen many that are "bonded" in.

Most things would be the same, but the main parts that I know are different are the steering wheel & airbag, stereo & obviously the stalk assembly which is the Comm2000 set up on the multiplex models. Seats are fine for both as mine came from a multiplex model & all of the airbag plugs were the same.
When I was looking round for mine, I test drove two Y-plate cars, neither of which had Com2000 stalks. I'm fairly sure I've seen the older set-up on a 51-plate, but never an 02 or later. (I recognise it varies a bit as you don't know how long a car remained unsold).

I've seen both Comm2000 & normal set ups on Y plates, but never seen an X with Comm2000 or a 51 with standard set up. Is the multiplex really that bad or is it all just bad press? I quite like some of the extra features that didn't come on the pre-multiplex like the white dials & the auto-lights. When I was considering 307s, everything I read basically said they were unreliable heaps, but surely if they were that bad, there wouldn't be so many still going now?

I think the main downfall of fully multiplex cars is the com2000, the indicators fail just as frequently as the non-multiplexed cars but it's much more expensive to fix.

i dont think multiplexed cars are any more unreliable, they are just wired up differently perhaps more complex but look at how few 03 and 04 406s are on ebay getting broken for parts. Compared to other years
