Saying Hi! and HELP!

Post by superdud »

Hi! folks newbie here.
Have a 2002 HDI Executive Estate. The N/S rear passenger door won't unlock. The electro-mechanical bit (solenoid) makes locking & unlocking noises (!) but the door won't open. Has anyone any suggestions. Someone did say remove the trim and use WD 40, but how do I remove the trim?

Hello & welcome to the site. 8)

(and may I say, an excellent choice of vehicle, sir).

I've no relevant experience with this problem, (yet), but somebody sensible will be along shortly.....

(have you tried searching similar topics)?
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

There is only one way to get to it and that's to take the panel off :( It might make it easier to get to if you remove the seat.

Thanks for tha Stevet!

I've just spoken with the local Peugeot Main Dealer who said that it's the Door=lock mechanism which has broken down - it shouldn't cost more than £445.00 plus VAT to fix!!

I was just about to PE the brute for another, same year but less mileage. Mine, which I forgot to mention is a Diesel Automatic, has 101,927 currently on the clock. The 'New' (Ha, ha, ha!) one is a diferent colour and only has 40K miles. Being offered for £3,995. I don't know what they'll offer me for mine! (Conplete with its burglar-proof rear door!) :cheesy:

Don't tell them, they'll never notice and at that price, they can afford to fix it.

It utterly amazes me the difference mileage makes to the asking price. In the last week, I've seen one 2.2 HDi estate, (170k) fail to make £500 on fleaby, while there's one on Autotrader with 46k, for £4,495

Just because it ended with no bids, doesn't mean it didn't make the £500. Seller may have ended early for somebody who offered more, but you wouldn't know because Ebay doesn't put the little note at the top to say "Seller ended early due to..." anymore.

Looked a couple of days ago & there are a few nice examples within a 60mile radius of me at the mo. Thought it prudent to check as mine goes for MOT this week & if by any chance it does fail miserably, I'd rather get another 406 so I won't have just wasted a fortune getting a set of alloys refurbed & I could still use a lot of the parts from mine.
