Hi
Can someone please tell me if the wiper linkage can/should be lubricated?
My wipers, after not being used for some time, start very slowly and gradually build up to to proper working speed and are the fine until the next period of non use (a week or so).
All the Haynes manual tells me is how to remove and refit.

Re: wiper linkage
Having had a wiper linkage fall off in a thunderstorm due to wear (
) I've given mine a squirt with spray grease. I'm not sure if it got where I wanted it but it's better than nothing.
If this doesn't work then the only way to be sure is to take it out, clean all the old grease out of the insides and replace it with fresh.

I find the best thing to do with tight wiper mechanisms is to remove the wiper arms, remove the rubbers covering the wiper arm mounts, take off the circlip off the wiper arm mount and make sure the wiper arm mount can be moved in and out easily by lubricating the pivot point....squirt WD40 down the pivot and keep moving it in and out, finish off by squirting some light oil down the pivot holes.
Refit the circlips, rubbers, and wiper arms.
