HDi Estate ?????

Post by LXHDi110 »

Seem quite hard to obtain, looking at changing to one but cant find many 2.0Hdi, all seem to be 1.9TD. Whats the 1.9TD like compared to 2.0HDi?

Seen a couple 1998 (R) for around £1000 - £1200 1.9Td, but all 2.0HDi have done over 150000 miles, dont mind high mileage but would prefere 100000 -120000. Just me wanting the earth for pennies :cheesy:

Depends which HDi it is, they are 2. The 1.9TD is 90bhp, they is a 2.0 HDi 90bhp and 110bhp. So obviously an HDi 110 estate is the 1 to go for.

The 90bhp is ok in a 206 which I owned for 3yrs but I doubt it would be fun in a bigger and heavier car tbh.

Problem is, the 110 is prone to dual mass flywheel failures, exacerbated further if the estate is used as a weighty load lugger. Pricy and inconvenient.

The 90, however, has a solid 1 piece flywheel and is a much tougher proposition. Slap on an HHtuning box for £170, and you've got 110 levels of performance. TBH though, I drove several of each flavour back to back when i was buying and there isn't as much as you'd hope to seperate to 90 & 110 performance wise.

Did someone say dual mass flywheel?

LX.....I found out (when I brough the car home on the first day) that my car had been fitted with a Tow Bar previously and had receipts in the service book from France where the old owner had seemingly used the car for international touring (with a fooking mahoosive caravan in tow).

Having said that, the gearbox, Turbo, Engine are spot on [temp fate mode 'off']

This, I am convinced has prematurely worn the clutch and flywheel, However if you choose carefully and get to find out ALOT about the cars history then I am not so sure the flywheel issue is too much to worry about.

Sure, estates do get loaded up sometimes BUT some private motorists have an estate to carry a small mutant Dog around and otherwise cherish the car totally.

I would say do your homework and look at a few, drive a few, etc etc.

Remember, an engine isn't like a muscle - you can't strain it, so towing Foxy's wallet about all day won't have a detrimental effect.

It's transmission, suspenders and brakes that take a beating so as Welton says, if you test drive a few it'll easily be apparent which ones have spent their life burdened under the weight of Geordieboys bar bill.

Oh, by the way...

Whilst I'm saying nothing about the obvious spelling mistake, cheer up Welton, you know it's only a bit of fun

I can't help myself, it's working in a male only environment that does it, I have to be one step ahead of the guys else I've had it

Cheer up Image
Hmmm, I wander what supa means by spelling mistake ??? :?
