Managed to find a brand new power board for £52.20 delivered next day delivery
It's the same guys who I bought the part off to repair my dvd recorder so no worries purchasing from them.

I guess it might be worth a punt, as if it's not that, there is one going on ebay for £60 (free delivery ) and one for £74 plus £8 shipping (£82) so unlikely not to get my money back

Found a board for £27.50 now
Only problem they are out of stock - not surprising at that price :D

Signed up to email notification for when they are back in stock

Will have to make do with the puny 28" for a bit

Why is it when you have a 28, the 42 looks stupidly big,
but, when you have a 42, the 28 looks rediculously small!

The tv here is only 26", when the old one blew up we were watching a 10" portable. Oddly enough we got used to it and when I finally found a replacement here that didn't cost both arms, both legs and a testicle it looked enormous.

My BIL's toshiba had a similar fault recently, wouldn't come out of standby. Local repair shop fixed it for £45 all in, turned out to be a knackered component on the power board (wasn't a capacitor but can't remember what it was  ). Might be worth ringing around a few shops?

For the £27.50 for a new board, it's not worth not changing the whole lot, as one repair kit I found is about a tenner, if that doesn't cure it, the other is £20, or I can send my board off and have it repaired for £45, so no brainer.

Thanks guys
