Who's a half happy chappy then ????

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Who's a half happy chappy then ????

Post by Stevem »

Well................. Me :cheesy:
After finding out info about the plugs in the drvers (verey wet !!!) footwell, My mate and ne set about it this afternoon (or yesterday looking at the time !!!) and got things out.
Carpet well wet, andf when car was turned round with nose up..... the water ran back intro the rear footwell !
Drilled lots of holes and 5 mins later the water stopped running out !
Anyway, eventually found the plugs and pulled them apart to clean up.Sadley a few of the crap wires came of the ends of the connectors !
So put things back togethether, and now I no longer have side lights coming on when ign. switched on !
Got radio on, fuel now lets me know whats in there, no hazards flashing......................BUT still NO speedo, Tacho, Temp gauge !!!! This is due to a few wires being pulled out of the back of the connector plugs .
So I'm going to the scrappies to cut about a foot of the loom from both sides of the connectors to then solder into the original wirining giving me enough loom to lift things out of the swimming pool and up behind the fuse box !!!! :cheesy:
Sorry this being my first post other than intro, but the info I got from others before registering was EXTREMLEY helpful.... so THANK YOUY .

Well done Steve! :)
Has your car got a sunroof? I'd be checking to see where that water got in asap! You can also get leaks from the aerial and the doors if the water shedders behind the door cards have been hacked apart.

Yep,it's got a sunroof.Looked in the boot and spare wheel well and everything was bone dry, even though there was a big open gash in the quater panel !
I just drilled the holes straight through the floor at the front and through the carpet and floor at the rear. :cheesy: Now just need a small brush and some 'cure rust' stuff to paint up the insides of the holes to stop them getting worse. I know it isn't an ideal way of dealing with a flood, but at least if any gets in there again it can find a way out.
