OK, I've uploaded the gearbox information to the Wiki - thanks for the info, Steve!

Still looking for photos of people's cars along with the proper name for the paint colour (I can try and find the paint code myself if needs be, but it would be handy if you could supply the paint code from the sticker on your car too).

And, I'm still looking for photos of peoples' Peugeot alloy wheels so I can update the page on Rims.

The 1.6 is probably a BE3 with a cable clutch, I didn't even thing anyone would care about that one.

There seems to be some errors on the rims page but I guess you'll tidy that as you go.

Alloys (Mistral? - 5402C6) - Image edit - I just spotted you already have them. Can I have the engine to go with the description please?

Hmm, the China Blue is a little odd - my old saloon is also China Blue, and it's a completely different paint code (EGED).

The information I have is that the last letter of the paint code describes the finish - "B" describes varnished non-metallic, "C" describes varnished metallic, and "D" describes lacquered pearlescent. No idea what "E" would be.

I'll definitely add the Obsidian Black as that paint code looks to comply with the above rule. Would that be your car?

Handsome motor, sir :)

The colour codes are, indeed, mad - the information I have is that Obsidian Black is a metallic colour :D

Is it likely they'd have offered it in both pearlescent and metallic?

If not, I'll be moving it into the Pearlescent category on the Wiki as I'm going to use actual paint codes taken from actual cars as the best source of information, rather than "stuff I've found on the net".

It seems to depend where you look.

According to the log book (or local equivalent  ) it is pearlescent.

EL is NOIR OBSIDIEN MICA from here - http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/co ... eugeot.htm Note China Blue or "BLEU DE CHINE NACRE" (blue of knackered Chinaman?) is on there three times, once as MOGE, once as M0GE and once as EGE, as well as BLEU DE CHINE PEARL (M4GE) and BLEU DE CHINE (540), although this might be something to do with covering Renault too.

OK, your car is up on the Wiki representing Obsidian Black, which I have stuck under the "Pearlescent" category.

Under my "if it's off a real car, it's true" rule, my own China Blue will continue to represent that colour, under the EGED code, cos that's whats on my A-pillar sticker on the drivers' side.

Need more input! Seriously guys, looking for photos of 406s and the associated colour name and paint code. If you're not happy about your registration plate going on the Wiki, send me the photo anyway and I'll blank out the registration plate.

I've also sent Peugeot an e-mail asking for this kind of info - doubtless they'll either ignore me or tell me to feck off, but it can't hurt to ask, I guess.

Ooh, that's interesting... I have EKQD for Diablo Red Pearlescent. I wonder if there's maybe a different paint code for the same colour on D8 and D9 chassis, or if the paint code "system" changed at some point. Or if Peugeot know that colour internally as EKQD but whomever manufactures the paint knows it as MOKQ.

Hmmm. Maybe I am biting off more than I can chew with the paint page...

Brilliant! :cheesy: So there are two shades called Diablo Red, with different paint codes, on cars that are the same age. I just love challenges like this. Oh wait, no I don't.

Also, I got a fairly standard "actually we don't give a sh*t" kind of reply from Pug saying I'd be best off speaking to my local Peugeot dealership. Obviously they'd prefer we don't bother trying to keep these older Peugeots running and looking their best, and would like to encourage us to buy one of their newer models. Oh well; you don't ask, you don't get.

I'd have to go check the car for the paint code, but this is Sherwood Green, which I believe there is 4 shades of !

Highlander My saloon looks like your old saloon in terms of colour, but yet its not called china blue, on the servicebox characteristics the paint is called
-METALLIC PAINTWORK
-PAINT RHODES BLUE
so here is rhodes blue then:
Image
and i have bought paint off ebay and it was called rhodes blue, to do the parking sensors, it required rhodes blue and lacquer, although the lacquer was just standard lacquer.
