Oh contraire my friend

BMW have took on board the criticism for the size of the Mini - new countrman been nicknamed the Maxi I believe
and have developed a smaller version called the rocketman
If the demand is there, it will be put into production

can't remember how many mini's i've had
off top of head
74 mini 1000 - didn't have much money and went up local motor factors and bought cheapest clearance paint they had which was pea green
81 mini 1100 sprite
79 mini 1275gt
78 mini van - I fitted a 1275 into it :D
66 mini cooper
and about 4 other mini 1000's

the thing is the countryman is massive i know but even the normal mini is big, my aunt has a cooper S and the time i had my panda i parked it beside it and the panda was smaller both width and length yet had more room, you could seat 5 comfortably as opposed to being cramped in the mini, and the pandas boot was bigger and better shaped. The new mini is very badly packaged, the new panda is the closest thing there is to the old mini, and ive sat in one, one time not being tall is a good thing, i sat perfectly into it.

lol, the closest I've got to driving a REAL Mini is my Metro. My dad used to have a Mini pick-up, he shoe-horned an Austin 1600cc engine into it which made it go like stink, never upgraded the brakes tho, it had drums all round

Safety rules dictate that even small cars have to be big now and 2bh I think BMW did a great job with the new Mini, I drove a friends Cooper and it was just awesome, handled so well, the gearbox and steering were amazing, pity its a girls car... what u should do is go out with a chick that drives one and then offer to drive everywhere, she won't want to go in your car as its a 406, only 1 option left...u get to drive the mini

we put a maxi engine into a mini to be used for Grass tracking,
it never got used as the engine kept over heating engine was way to big for it too cool properly,
we even put vents in the bonnet and it still overheated,

shame tho as it wouid of been a good pocket rocket :P

Ano, the 2.7 Twin-Turbo HDi out of the 407 dropped into the front of a 406 would be a nice bit of kit :cheesy:

you used the wrong engine in the car ,i raced class 6 and was club champion in my mini with a 2000 twin cam lancia engine in the front running 14 inch wheels to get the gearing right.but blew that up after 6 races and replaced it with a 1600 lancia twin cam that was faster and reved harder.
on the grass its all about revs :cheesy: :cheesy:
