Plod - you wanna get your mate to check/change the crankcase breather filter a-top the engine, there's a modified one available from the dealer, these get neglected and block with wet oil mist/gunk. Primarily it leads to smoke but ultimately blocked engine breathing........and ingestion

Ironically, it is the emissions controls that force the engine to break itself heaven forbid that there should be the slightest whiff of exhaust fumes out the back
