Re: Hdi 150 anyone?
Allard Turbo Sport used to list a 150bhp conversion for the 110 and it included an uprated intercooler. These days they only seem to so Landrovers
You'd struggle to get more than 140 on a standard I/C without excessive smoke (incomplete combustion) hence the Intercooler.

Re: Hdi 150 anyone?
Just read the ebay ad....."the intercooler has a slight leak"....and "it's done this before"......
So what chance have you got in verifying the awesome 150bhp-ness when the I/C leaks
My money's on a worn engine mount - move-about-engine-bursty-hosey problem
At least it has been valeted 'once a month'

Bluefin can get 148bhp out of a Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDDI 115!
Thats an old mechanically operated pump! That brings it up to ST-TDCi grunt!
So tempted to get one now!

Re: Hdi 150 anyone?
There was a period in the late 90's when high pressure mechanical systems ran higher injection pressures than those possible with common rail systems of the day - up to 1800 Bar, HDi's are 1350, giving better atomisation / more power. The early (2000) 136 BHP BMW 320 was this design and the common rail equivalent in the Rover 75 was 115 BHP. By late 2001 they had a 150 BHP common rail design.

Re: Hdi 150 anyone?
Maybe this seller is a research scientist at BMW's diesel excellence centre in the, err, south of france, and he developed a set of one-off Piezo's, a hybrid blue-printed (what does that mean?) HP pump and a special vary-vane turbo doofer..........in his shed of an evening....the resultant 150ebbhp (ebay bhp) is purely down to this attention to detail and the fact that it has been serviced by and ex-RAC patrol man

Re: Hdi 150 anyone?
I got a 1.6 Focus now and I been tempted, just to smooth out the power abit more. Any MPG gained would be a bonus. They only get an extra 7bhp out of it. But if I was to get a 4-2-1 manifold, Puma 1.7 Inlet manifold and an ST170 cold air feed then get a bluefin I could probably get about 110bhp out of the engine. It is tempting.lozz wrote:Bluefin is excellent mate,Bailes1992 wrote:Bluefin can get 148bhp out of a Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDDI 115!

But at the same time I fancy a bigger car, a Ghia X Mondeo with the 2.0 TDDi engine is the same price to insure as my XUD Pug.
With the Mondeo I'd get Full leather, climate control, cruise control, heated seats, trip computer, electric seats etc etc. Then a bluefin would take it upto ST-TDCi grunt.
I could get a Mondeo and Bluefin it with change to spare from £1500.
Its very tempting I must admit

My Dad's had a MK3 1.8 LX, a MK3 2.5 V6 Ghia X, Mk3 2.5 V6 Zetec S and 2 MK3 ST220's. All were perfect to be honest.lozz wrote:iwouidnt get a mk3 mondey 2.0 tdi if iwas you mate,Bailes1992 wrote:I got a 1.6 Focus now and I been tempted, just to smooth out the power abit more. If you do go for a Mondy, check inside the bottoms of the doors for rust. Pre 2005 are terrible for it.
