Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Where is the sensor for the fob - V reg HDi 110LX estate

Trying to find the box that reads the signal from the key fob - never got a fob with car but scrappy only wants £10 for key with fob and any bits of electrical gubbings I need - just can't find the reciever - would I need the whole ECU?

Gaz

P.S. which colour wire is the perminent feed for stereo as my after market stereo continually resets stations and bass/treble settings

PPS... Has anyone any idea if the standard stereo on the LX will read CDR (copied cd's?)

Hi,
Ithink the remote works thru the Bsi icouid be wrong tho,
My V reg -110 hdi came standard with 1ordinary key and 1 plip key Maybe yours wouid of been the same,
if thats the case it shouid be just a case of programing another plip to the car,

Check if your car came standard with a plip key on Service box

Make an Account up on there just put any name on it they dont check,

Once youve made an account just Add your Vin number and itl put up a list of what your car as from when it came out of the Factory,

Mines an lx and came with remote locking so ishouid think yours shouid of too,
if so theyre be no need to add anything to your car just programe the new plip key

As far as ican see it wouid just be a case of taking the "Transponder chip out of your key and adding it to the plip key,

and just sync the the plip to the car,
Heres what ive found, "I carnt Guarantee this working tho as ive not tried it my self ! "
The 406 deadlocking remote control has specific button controls, and if the vehicle has two controls, one is set as primary and the other as secondary.

When replacing the Plip, a Primary or Secondary Plip are different part numbers and must be ordered as required. The white label inside the Plip is labelled PRIM or SEC.

1. Turn the Ignition switch ON.

2. Press the large Plip key button (Primary Plip)

3. Within 10 seconds press the large Plip key button (Secondary Plip)

4. If there is one remote, press the Primary plip button twice.

5. Turn ignition OFF.

6. Test Plip’s for correct operation.

NOTE : On some 406 models, Plips cannot be re-synchronised unless the battery has been disconnected for 1 minute.

On D8s the sensor (by that I mean receiver) seems to be in the over-head console. On com2000 D9s it seems to be in the (blasted) com2000, however I spent ages looking but can't find it anywhere in Service Box for yours :frown:
