The high pressure pipe is renowned for springing leaks on its joints, but I've not heard of a low pressure pipe going before (even though I don't think I've seen a 406 which doesn't have the damn thing hanging beneath the bumper )

Shockingly cheap for a dealer replacement though! IIRC the HP one is a few hundred quid (which is why I used a 2nd hand jobbie to replace mine...)
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

well everyone,
thanks for all the replies.
a local garage i had told of my problems really surprised me. i only asked if the car could be made driveable. (before i asked you guys.). he called yesterday to pick it up. off he went. took the offending pipe off, had it welded by a specialist welder near to him. fitted pipe. rang to say it was ready and asked if i wanted him to bring it back. i am thinking of the few tenners left in my wallet after a fags and wine run to france and belgium. you know what its like. you must have what you must have. etc.
asked what i owed, shaking in fear.
would £40 be okay with you????
i gave him a £5 on top for a drink. i would love to buy you all a drink, but i am pissed now and probably wont have the money tomorrow. :(
but thanks for al the input guys.
all the best doug.
