Very strange Question!

Post by lozz »

This may sound like a Very strange Question,

But here Goes,
as Anyone on the forum Been done for Speeding (No idont work for the plod lol,) :)
The Other Week iwas Doing 36 in a 30 zone I spotted a Yellow van parked up on Apavement with an ugly looking chap with a camera pointing right at me So igeard it down My son said hed seen a Flash so ithought oh feck heres a ticket,

its been over a week now and postman pat asnt dropped me any thing idont want to open,
How long do they normaly take to issue /post out fines etc etc. ??

This is the 1st time ive ever been clocked for speeding and ive been driving since 92
Ialso find it strange that there stood in the back of the Van pointing the Camera through the windscreen ialways thought they always operate from a "Sneaky flap @ the back of the van, :?

Yellow van is the right colour for round your way, (ashton right?) and ugly bloke with a camera is also right but if your speedo was indicating 36 you were probably doing closer to 33 ish, it all depends on what "they" have arbitrarily decided is the limit that day for prosecution, some days 15% some days higher,

as for the flash thing, i thought they only used the flash cameras from static posts as they must work in all weathers and lighting conditions, the vans usually have video cameras that way they get more film of you rather than just a couple of frames, if there was a double flash like the statics it would need marker points on the road surface to indicate distance travelled in the allotted time between flashes.

Finally on the one occasion i received a ticket, for somebody else driving my car i might add, cheers Mate it was on my door mat less than 5 days after the said event, but that was west yorkshire police, i have no idea what GMP is like for speedy delivery.

Good luck mate and dont stress too much, even if you have been caught they will probably offer a speed awareness course in place of points if this is your first one.

I always thought you were allowed 10% before they do anything
then
speed awareness courses if you are between 10 and 20%
above that, then prosecution

Mine is about 2mph over the sat nav reading, but also with larger tyres than standard (215/55x16 rather than 195/65x15).

Isn't it a requirement to actually have speed camera signs up at least 1km before the actual placement?

Also

Don't know how far mine is out at 30mph but know when mine is reading 69, gps says i'm doing 65, so 4 mph out - may be reasonable to say it's 2mph out at 30
Saying that, I drive at what I deem to be 32 in a 30 zone, and nothing has come of it, so seems a good chance

There was deffo no sighns,
the other thing ifound strange is how they parked the van if iparked my car across apavement on Flags the council wouid be moaning saying im damaging the pavement etc,

the van was parked so it couid clock cars coming up a Hill off a slightly bendy stretch ,it wasnt a straight road and it was a hill where you couidnt actualy keep to 30mph when ispotted the van iwas doing around 36 but at that stage iwas Gearing down and iwas on the brakes so icarnt say what speed they clocked,

If they are going to prosecute you will receive an NIP (NOTICE OF INTENDED PROSECUTION) within 14 days. If you hear nothing after then you should be ok. Unless the veh is registered to someone else then they will get the NIP and that's deemed as served so they can then come after you. The registered keeper will have to complete the forms identifying who was driving at the time. Unless you are a highly paid footballer and employ a brief who has a knack of getting people off! Good luck. Mark.

Was it not just an ANPR camera?

A couple of weeks ago a customer accused me of getting a speeding ticket in his Mitsubishi when I took it for mot, but it wasn't on the road I took to the mot garage nor the correct time, but the paperwork only took 3 days to arrive.

Idont think it was a ANPR had a Sticker on van Saying speed kills, so ipresume they where clocking up speeders,
there where no other stickers on the van.
