Bio diesel suppiers

Anyone know of any Good bio derv suppliers in Manchester/lancashire
iknow of a Few back st sheds selling it but idont fancy trying that again,

looking for the good stuff,

Ask the guy making it in his shed to show you the 50:50 result and a 27/3 test, if it passes, it's good.

I've seen more sh*t from "big" names than home brewers.

lozz i hate to break it to you but the hdi will go massively wrong if u run it on anything other than derv,
bio or veg oil WILL kill it

"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

ive had it running on bio mate,
its just that ihad a bad batch theres loads running on bio,

even if imix it 50/50 itl get me out the stink when the fuel prices go boom, :roll:

From what ive read all the cars in France are running on Bio instead of normal derv they dont use normal derv dont know if thats true or not but if thats the case the 406 shouid be able to survive on it as theres plenty of them out in france, :|

also its the later Hdis withFap that seem to flag up problems on bio, mines an early one so it shouid be ok on it so ive read,

itl work in any car mate,

it will kill the hp pump ive seen it happen many times and even rebuilt the pump's after the seals are totally gone

of course its up to you, i have a hp pump here now from a hdi 110 that im waiting for the seal's and other new parts from bosch to re build it.
im all for cheap motoring thats why i bought a hdi but i wont be puttung anything other than diesel in the tank

HDi engines will not run for very long on pure biodiesel. Biodiesel has a higher water content than conventional, fossil fuel diesel so the engine oil and filters will need changing more frequently to avoid corrosion. A small amount of this water may be left in the biodiesel by the production process, but it is more likely to be absorbed by the fuel during storage. Energy content is again lower than that of conventional diesel and consequently fuel consumption is higher.

Maybe your right mate,
ill stick with Regular derv for abit longer,
idid try it on Bio tbh it threw a wobbler at 1st and that resulted in the tank being half syphoned out,
iran it for a week on half a tank of the bio what was remaining and it ran well on it,
no loss off power and it chucked out less smoke than regular derv when you gave it a bootfull up hills etc,
Maybe its running it longterm that does the damage to the pumps, :|

wtf? Utter bollox from the AA site.

Energy content lower than diesel, wrong! Biodiesel actually has a HIGHER cetane rating than pump diesel! Fuel economy is exactly the same.

Higher water content? again, wtf? The FIRST step of the process is to get any water out of the oil. "Absorbed by the fuel during storage"? Personally i don't leave my fuel in an open topped bucket, but what ever works for the AA ...

Don't take the stuff on the advice sites as 100% legit.

eg, have a look over on pug306.net where several members are running hdi engines on bio without a problem.

Just checked the HOnest John link, they're confusing bio with veg, just look at some of the answers.

Just checked the RAC link, the highest %age response to the poll is people who've used bio with NO problems...

"higher viscosity of bio"? huh. Biodiesel is an exact replacement, like for like with the viscosity of pump diesel. They even go on to say that the fuel system adds something to the tank that causes problems!


I've just read the articles you linked to and i have no idea how you came to the conclusion that biodiesel is a problem in a hdi, VEG is a problem in a hdi, bio isn't. In fact the two pages you linked to are just other people talking about using bio, adding their own version of misinformation and confusion to the mix.


Now if you don't mind, could somebody put a ladder against this high horse, it's quite drafty up here and i'd like to get down. :)

Methanol is what eats the seals...

Methanol should be extracted when the bio diesel is made.
Go and watch the top gear episode when they raced that beemer for 24 hours. The reason they kept killing the pump was because they never removed the methanol.
Good biodiesel with the methanol removed will be fine in any diesel, and should be fine in a lucas too!
