and if your buying any xud make sure it doesnt use water, ive had a few in the past that had overheating problems. The key is the annual coolant flush. Same goes for a hdi.

My advice is.... Chugging up and down motorways a lot - get an HDi, the fuel savings will offset the expensive parts.
School runs, around town, shopping - get a petrol.

craigtd wrote:dont know where you lot get your prices from but i do know one thing your getting ripped off, i've worked on pugs for years and D9's are shite and cost the earth when they go wrong, but so does any frogy diesel car realy, i still would never have one even if it was given to me for free,as when you come to sell them there worth nothing, i run a 406 executive 2.0 ltr turbo,R.reg (petrol) and on a long run i get 45mpg at 70-80mph, now show me a dirty diesel that will do that ? and one that is deprecaition free.
on the subject of fuel consumption. i did today 175 miles on 15 litres of fuel .

cost me £20

58 MPG  on the motorway doing 70mph all the way somtimes hitting 80mph .

1.9 diesel turbo ... you find me a dirty petrol emission machine that can do that

it does 40mpg on petrol, and its on lpg and since its about 62p at the moment vs £1.30 ish for petrol its bound to work out at that mpg.
The primera isnt too unreliable, it needed a new battery.
But the build quality feels flimzy, the dash is stupid, and the steering is too light its dangerous, no feedback steering really is attrocious.
The primera before it was much stronger. But its no 406.

Is that why hardly anyone bought them and Nissan no longer make saloon cars, just tiny hatchbacks and several size of jeep?

Shame as the Nissan Bluebird was bulletproof!

Though even the mk1 Laguna (the prettier half's dad has one that he uses as a real workhorse, usually seen with half a tree sticking out the boot.. ) seemed to be more reliable than the mk2 (which spawned the last Primera).

A lot of manufacturers seemed to have a tipping point around the turn of the century, when their 90s bulletproof cars (406, Xantia, Mercs) were replaced with a new generation that seemed to be overly complicated and not well tested (407, C5, >~2000 Mercs)

You would think Nissan would be reliable, but my dads Navara works van blew an engine!

Here's hoping Hondas are marginally better....

Impressions so far are that it is very comfortable, quiet and refined. Seems well built, the doors close with a reassuring thud that puts me in mind of Mercs of old.

I seen a white juke the other day, the same day i also heard on the radio nissan hoped to overtake toyota the uks most popular japanese brand. Did they look at their range lately, there is not a single nissan i could look at.
A vtech honda, they do suit my driving style quite nicely, rev and rev the nuts off them.
