im going to atempt doing mine by cutting out the rubber and cutting thru the metal and prising it out,
ive been talking to someone who says its do able that way as long as the cars high enough of the ground for access,
ive got plenty of sharp little chizzels too so iwill give it a go,
idont fancy taking the drive shaft out
"easier" method, cut out the old unit by taking segments out of the metal ring, then get this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PFF50-306-POWERFL ... 1c18846e9a same block and mount as the 1.9TD engines, but it's a 2 piece polybush, so no hassle trying to press it into place under the car.

cheers mate,
so if ijust cut through the metal bit of the bush itl prize out ?
ive also read to put new bush in Freezer before refiting them if its done this way,
To save some cutting, it will be tricky under there cutting slots.......cut out the old rubber, reverse your hacksaw blade and slot it through the metal ring.
Cut one slot right through the metal ring, fold up the ends of the cut ring and knock out the metal ring.

Arrgh it looks a cint of a job!
how thick is the metal part of the bush is it made of Hardend steel.?
It's about 1mm thick, maybe 2. It's not hardened anything, it was just a complete bastard to remove with it being rusted to the bracket. I was lying under the car though so it wasn't the easiest position.
I would NEVER do this again... Actually, if I HAD to do this again, I would probably go down the drive-shaft removal route.

if its 1mm thick it shouid chip out
Maybe the aloy corodes making it hard to get out,
Hmm maybe it be a case of cutting out all the rubber then burn it out with a blow torch,
that may result in a 999 call tho hmm
Had a go at repairing my lower engine mount today. Followed lozz's advice and chopped up an exhaust rubber and managed to bash it into the gaps then filled it all in with instant gasket stuff. Doesn't seem to be moving around as much now.
It was getting dark when i finished up so i'll be having a look at it when i start the engine up in the morning. Before i did this bodge it was moving about a fair bit i suspect thats why i had to get the flexijoint replaced last year.
Had a good look underneath the pug today and replacing that engine mount looks like a pig of a job! If this lasts a couple of months i'll be happy. Funds are a bit tight just night, baby food and nappies to buy.......
I took a couple of photos i'll try and post them in the next day or two not done this before.

no mate it will set its self
normaly takes a couple of hours to set fully,
When ibodged mine ididnt start the engine till the day after it was set solid almost as solid as a Good mount,
Mot tester pointed it out as a good bodge
Hi just an update on the engine mount bodge. Started the car up this morning and the engine is not hardly moving at all. Feels smoother to drive and there isn't a clunking noise when you start up or switch off the engine. Lucky i did this engine mount now found another job to do the o/s/f cv boot is knackered the rubber has started to perish and can see a bit of cv grease on one spot car's going in on monday to get a new one. I managed to bodge this as well used a bit of glue to seal it up. I would have done the cv boot myself but don't I have a decent breaker bar or a big enough socket for the driveshaft nut and the torque wrench only goes upto 200Nm. Very pleased with the engine mount just have to see how long it lasts.
