just thinking about it. you wont need to put a higher fuse in anyway. the fuse for the fag lighter is high anyway to cope with the current needed for that useless thing.
so sat navs and dvd players will easy run on the normal fuse..
Yup never put higher fuses in,
ifound that out on a hyundia lantra
its hard to stop the fizzling and frying once wires over load it can wipe out a full loom in secounds,
in my case with the hyundai it wiped out the ecu too ,
I have 0 fuses. The reason is that although i have extra sockets only 1 gets used for charging the phone. I suppose if i started running car kettles it would need a fuse.
The wiring of any circuit is of a diameter to carry the current the circuit is designed to draw and only a little more. Example, Indicators draw only a small amount of current so the cableing will normally be about 22awg. Your starter motor will draw one hell of a lot more. Try using 22awg on that and it'll just melt. You fit a higher rating fuse than a circuit is designed for and you risk melting cables and or fire if you get a short circuit. Not worth the risk.
It may only be 12V but it's the amphere that kills you!

Dogslife and Lecky are right in what they're saying. The fuse rating is there for the protection of the wiring to the device, not the other way round.
If you add an extra cigar lighter socket, keep the same size fuse in place, this will protect the wires and is doubtful you will blow fuses if you are only plugging in chargers.
If on the other hand you plan to use both of them for portable kettles (simultaneously), then the wiring will have to be uprated to take the extra current. If this situation occured with original wiring yet with a larger fuse, the fuse won't blow and you'll fry the wiring and possibly start a fire!
That is worse case scenario though!
Personally, I would tap off the front one and keep the original fuse in place, if whatever you're powering blows the fuse, you will have to uprate the wiring of BOTH (original and extra) sockets.
