MOT pass

Post by Blue406 »

My trusty steed with exactly 181,912.5 miles on the clock passed her MOT today with flying colours. Only advisory was a tiny bit of play in a rear track rod end, indicating a small bit of wear. But the mechanics reckon its good for at least another 100K before it needs replacement.
They also said my Pug was good for 200K miles and beyond as long as I keep up on the usual maintenance :)

That just made my day. Now the only aprehension I have is waiting on the Army coming back to me about my application.

Not as much as I should

I keep all the fluid levels in check and generaly give her a good looking over from time to time. Every month she's tanked full with petrol treatment added.
That and driving sensibly seems to be paying off. I will be trying to change the oil every 6K miles from here on in.

By sensible driving, I mean steady speeds and not racing it around like an evo (unlike some here. Ya'll know who you are)

Typically I keep to the speed limits on town and contry roads. No sense in speeding there, doesn't make the slightest bit of difference for performance.

But, I cruise at 80mph on the motorways, stretching to 100mph once every two weeks or so for a few minutes at the dead of night (roads are deserted up here after midnight). Every once in a while, if the motoway is realy dead (there is a stretch where you can see for 4 miles in a straight line near me) I will open her up to 110/120 but then back off. No sense in over stressing the engine. Besides, I wouldn't want to hang around at those speeds for long. Tis wrong and the Police kinda take a gloomy attitude to it. Which is fair enough.

This regime seems to keep her ticking loose and happy.
