The ECU isn't a necessity, it just makes things a little easier. You can use the passenger seat as a guide to see how to rewire the driver seat.

They only used the non-stripey leather for about a year or 2. Most 98 on leather interiors are stripey, but to be honest, I prefer the look of the non-stripey. May not be as hard wearing as the stripey style though.

it would be a nightmare wireing the drivers seat up .
much better with an ECU.

reason i got an ECU was to get the heated seats working as well. that would be an even bigger headacke.

lozz these ECUs have the power wires marked seperately , it could be a nightmare finding them in all those wires.
there is a sh*t load going to the ecu

Do you want spaghetti sauce with that?

Left to right :
The earths.
The lives (labelled BH16A, BH16B and BH08L)
The accessory live feed (AH22G)
Grey with knot - OBD socket (6394 - ignore)
This is from a coupe, this is the feed that tells the ecu that the driver's door is open so I don't know if it will be on yours (6928).
