Shocks, springs, anything to do with the running gear

mine was a 6 for some reaosn on the top bolt, annoying as i went and bought a 7mm caliper key, why is mine a 6 and everyone on here says 7? i used a torx bit in the end

Well, I said sometimes they are 6mm.

The front caliper frame bolts can be VERY tight, you need a breaker bar or an extended ratchet handle or T bar.

Before you try to undo bolts like these, give them a good clean hit with a hammer, without damaging obviously.
The shock will break any lock tight or rust just enough to make that first turn a lot easier and reduce the chance or rounding.
After the hammer shock treatment, insert your hex / torx bit and give that a couple of short sharp hits to make sure its seated properly into the head.
The best device for applying good torque is this http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/produ ... reaker-bar its cheap and strong and has the advantage of good leverage and most importantly the angle of the socket is 90 degrees to the bolt, where as your whelbrace type bar will be more inclined to round stuff off due to the angle.
Always invest in good quality tools. MAchine mart do a really good range of gear, always go for the "professional" range as it comes with lifetime guarantee which you need with the torx and hex bits.
Obviously you cant beat Snap On but they are premium prices.

Are you using a good heavy hammer? not one of these little claw hammers for putting tacks in :cheesy:
Yes even though its a small bit the breaker bar is still the best, you get so much more torque with it being 90 degrees on. using a blow torch wont really help much, they cant get hot enough.

na not a real heavy hammer, and na i mean my torx bit is long, so with the wheel brace thing im using it just twists, isnt a flat fit, im hoping the breaker will be better

Those wheel brace things are hopeless, they aren't set at 90 degrees so you lose all the torque.

A 2 foot breaker bar will be better or somehow bend the wheel brace to 90 degrees.

Or, as I said earlier, a T bar from a socket set with a pipe on the end will help.

A shorter torx bit will help too.

Get the shortest torx bit you can too. one hand holding the knuckle of the breaker bar keeping it nice and straight and the other applying some starting pressure, then give it some big pressure. if it has started rounding already you would be better off beating the next size up torx bit in before you try anything else.

Also if room is tight, jack the car up as high as possible so you have more room underneath.
