I de-cat'd mine at the same time as fitting the powerflow, so can't give a valued opinion on just the de-cat
However, the turbo spools up a lot faster
Might give the de-egr a whirl as well - did think about it previous, but was told I had enough grunt out my hdi as it was
1999 D8.5 HDi GLX - Sold

But i thought this was for coolant or heating the cabin?
But if thats all it shouldnt be too hard.
does this need any instant gasket sealant stuff round it?

its worth sealing anyway, u wont be able to remove it if its got water pipe's going through it likr the one in the pic just un bolt it and put the plate in and bolt it back on.

I thought to myself i could do this de egr job so i did it today. There was gaskets there so it should be sealed properly. only the bottom allen key holding the egr brakcet on isnt in because i couldnt get it in but its not a big issue.
But its a doable job but blood will flow from your hand, i have 3 cuts and a load of scrapes on my hands and arms.
Anyhow low down the car feels a bit more free, it revs easier now. A difference but not a wahey woweey difference for that i discovered that just about an hour ago. In 5th gear i was doing 60, before if you put your foot down it slowly responded, but now you would swear the car is in 4th. Mid range torque has definatley went up.
de cat will make more differnce again, u should see an increese in mpg to.

re the bolt id try to get it back in if u can u probs just need to line it up.
as for the mpg it has been known that removing the egr can give a very small increese in mpg but not a huge amount, the decat u will see the most differnce as the engine doesnt have to work as hard to pull u along because the cat isnt there restricting the flow.
as said before mot centres dont do emmisions on a derv just a smoke test so an long as the stright pipe isnt blowing and the car isnt smoking like like a tank then u'll be ok
