Been talking to the mrs tonight The boss! as she wants to take over some of the driving as ive not been well lately doctor as tried to put me on some tablets but if itake them he will inform the dvla and bingo my licence will be taken off me most probs
mrs as told me to sell the 406s and buy a fiesta punto or simalar so she can drive,

ive decided to meet her halfway to keep the peace!- it wont be a festa or a punto but im thinking of getting another 306 but staying with the Hdi lumps,

what other little puggys are there out there with hdi engines, ?

Assuming you're looking at older cars, you have:
206 1.4 HDi
206 2.0 HDi 90
306 2.0 HDi 90 or the mechanically almost identical Citreon Xsara, which comes in 2.0 HDi 90 & 110 flavours. The 110 is really lively and, I think, even better on fuel.
There's also the 106 / Citreon Saxo - not HDi, but non-turbo TUD5 1527cc. - £125 road tax

a 406 is a small car a few days behind the wheel of the 406 and she will love it and get use to it.

girl next door kept telling me i dont want a big car (when i was telling her to buy a xud)

keep the 406, put parking sensors on the back and after a while it wont be such a big car.
the 307 came with a 1.4 hdi its really slow but if you want fuel economy its a good engine.

now that is a genuis idea, you get a 406 with more power, but its better looking, and easier to park.

The other half wouldn't drive the 406 and wont drive the Accord Coupe because she said they're too big.

Yet they're only about a foot or two longer than her Fiesta.

I know of people who have bought things like Grand Vitaras because their other half "didn't want a big car".....

Re: Diesel pugs, ZX had the XUD/XUDT, they are probably getting on in years but both mine never had any hint of rust on them whatsoever. (Unlike the 406 which used recycled British Leyland metal on the passenger doors ).
306 saloons are rare enough but come up on ebay every now and again. Grey imports of the facelift from the RoI come up every now and then.
This will give you a car that is similar in size to the 406, even looks quite similar, but is "small"...

A vitara 3dr if you could get one with no rust would be a fine runabout but although they have a small engine they drink fuel, and on the road the handling is woeful and it will shake you apart. The samurai improves the ride by being even more shakey and less refined.

Well we didnt go for a 306 in the end
one 406 as gone -sold the newer 03 plate.
the other one the 99 reg ive parked in the garage with the merc icarnt bring myself to part with it idont know why it must be the colour,

weve now got a fiat stylo nice size car its pretty quick too ive had a play in it and then handed it over to the mrs

aparantly a £47k car carnt keep up with a 1.6 stylo maybe ishouid sell it and get her a 1.1 fiesta
