On another note, I can finally report a fault with the car.
It stinks.
I turned on the heater for the first time early this morning cos I was stupid enough to wear T-shirt and jeans to work (and it went down to 6 degrees here). Within a couple of minutes, the car started stinking like a coal fire, so I would say either a leak at the downpipe or exhaust manifold

Top end is now sounding a bit ticky, though it could be the plastic cover but will be checking with Gazza later.
Also of note was the oil pressure gauge, which was sat at under 90 and the coolant gauge, which also sat at 80-85 degrees, the lowest I've had a HDi sit at.
They were both sat at top dead centre all this week, unless it was due to the ambient temperature outside - I haven't the foggiest right now and I'm that p*ssed off, I really don't give a toss either

Could be a smelly Pollen Filter? If it's an exhaust gas leak then a good sniffy sniffy around the engine bay is required (best with a cold engine, more smelly) i can smell burnt diesel around the EGR but it never enters the cabin. Perhaps the previous owner smoked a pipe with half an ounce of black shag stuffed in it

My temp gauge allways points to 90.

I thought it was an oil temperature gauge, not pressure?

When you can, get an oil flush and new oil.

Let us know how you get on when your mechanic has a look.

Mine gets a good claying once a year then Megs polish and finally Megs wax. Comes up fantastic, it just gets waxed once every couple of months after that, super shiny . I wash it every couple of weeks but always use a chamois to dry it off looks fantastic.

I wash mine with Maguires NXT generation wash, and chamois dry and when I ''Polish'' it I use Maguires Gold Class Wax, put on with sponge pad then buff off like a man posessed (bloody hard going but the result is superb).

My 110 pulls strongly to 120mph and then flattens out, this is about 4200 rpm.

Maybe it's leaking boost somewhere from the large hoses to and from the intercooler?

Bit of a pain this one, if you really think it's a bit down on power then it could be all sorts of things:

• leakage of the vacumn lines operating the turbo waste gate/pressure relief
  exhaust restriction
  blocked air filter
  poor fuel quality (try BP ultimate Derv)
  try injector cleaner/fuel system conditioner (forte type)
  HP fuel pump down on pressure (difficult to assess)
  maybe throttle sensor (mine had a new one as engine check light was on not sure if affects performance)
  some ECU / sensor fault
  Vac Pump not delivering enough VAC

I think it will be something simple, funnily enough 'xplosive' on here is having similar issues with low power and his has only done around 60000 miles.

Clay is just a bar of clay and a spray solution.

Wash the car and then use a chamois to dry it off really well. If you then run your fingers over the paintwork you'll feel tiny blemishes of road grime/tar on the paintwork (quite often you can barely see them but you can feel them). You then spray the solution which makes the clay glide across the bodywork. As you rub the clay over the bodywork it grabs the little spots of muck and pulls them off, takes an hour or so to do the whole car but once you've done it the bodywork feels like glass when you run your fingers over it, not a single spot anywhere. you do have to be careful, if you drop the clay or get any grit etc in it then throw it away or you'll scratch the paint work up. Basically the paintwork is back to the condition it was in when it left the factory. The clay is white and I was absolutely amazed how dirty it came up after one swipe across the bonnet, especially as I ad just given the very good wash.

Once clayed the car then gets a good polish, this is much easier now as the car has no little bits on the paintwork so it just glides on and off. Polish is a mild abrasive and cuts the clear coat ( laquer) to take out any slight scratches and swirls.

Finally the car gets waxed,m this has no abrasive properties and just puts a protective coat onto the paint.

I only do all of the above once a year in the spring, the rest of the year it just gets washed and chamoised dry, with a wax every few months. Makes the car very easy to keep clean though, and the paintwork looks fantastic with no swirls etc

When I wash it I use a lambs wool wash mit too and the two bucket method, one bucket with car shampoo, other bucket with warm water. Wash mit in soapy bucket, wash bit of car then straight into warm water to rinse dirt off the mit, reduces the chance of dragging the dirt and grit all over the car as you're washing it, ie less scratches to polish out

The old supataxi was definitely faster so I'm wondering lots of things at the mo, firstly was the old supataxi standard or did someone remap it at some point?
Secondly, is there something wrong with my car cos it says 110bhp on the V5?
Thirdly, is 112 in fifth slow or is my old one just making the new one look like it's slow?
Fourthly, if it is slow, could it be cos it hasn't had months of abuse at high speeds???

My HDi 110 pulls to 120 @ 4,000 revs, then its really slow upto its limiter at 130mph. Remove the limiter and 150mph might be possible. If yours was the 90bhp model then it would pull to 80bhp and be lucky to hit 100mph. Do you get any warning lights when its reaches 112? As mine now gets to about that and the speedo drops to 60, hazard warning lights flash, and sometimes the steering and brakes feels like the power is gone from them.

Its not quite as bad as it sounds, that little lot takes about 4 hours start to finish, and I only do the full lot once a year. Worth it though, car looks stunning afterwards

I've just had my clay bar delivered, haven't got the car to use it on now. And when it does come back from the body shop, I think have to wait a few weeks before I can wax it, so may be a job for next summer.

Supa, on your 'top speed' issue I noted today that my car pretty well topped out at 117 ish but the ambient temp was 25 deg C whereas my easy 120 run was on a cool night about 12 deg C.

Temperature has a big effect on turbo's and reduces the efficiency of the intercooler no end, might be worth bearing that in mind, there might be nothing wrong with yours (apart from it being mechanically tight still).

I don't think you will have a problem with an immobiliser fault, I bet it was you jumping in, couldn't wait, rushing the keys in and trying to start it to quick, take your time and all will be well.

Oh, and the speed testing was carried out on a private test track, it cost me £2,500.00 to hire it just for me today, but it was worth it

is there not a transponder in the key that reads the code in the key and if you put it in a bit quick it may not have read it correctly
