Lack of work or money is the usual reason for Poles (or any other nationality) to come to the UK, and for some the welfare state is a BIG attraction as there is little or no safety net in their own countries.
When I lived in Germany we drove over to Prague, the difference as soon as you crossed what was the old border between East and West Germany was a real eye opener.
If you think the UK is a sh*t hole (and I agree that some of it is) you aint seen nothing until you've seen some of th really poor parts of Europe.
You could always tell them you served your apprenticeship in a Gdansk shipyard before being kidnapped by traffickers and dumped in the north west. Despite this setback, you set to and learned the Queen's English better than the locals, (or at least the Saxe-Coburgs).
Failing that, offer to carpet the Danzig corridor for them.
That should sort it.

2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Ah, the old "Chocolate Starfish" application - also good for promotions, pay rises, social housing...

Unless, of course you happen to be interview by a homophobic individual, in which case you've just gauranteed your aplication will fail. Better to be discreet, (perhaps if you said you went to a public school)?

well Gentlemen (i use this term loosely) the process is complete and i am now a fully legal immigrant
I was granted permanent residency today at 11.53am
i am now officially Ponglish.
there was no need for the chocolate starfish approach, nor the gentle reminders about past heroism of our fine nation or even a stamping of the feet................................
now just a few more steps to get a couple more bits and pieces in the stamp department and i can finally start looking for another motor
I was joking, well done fella, I bet that's a weight off eh? I'll raise a glass to you Sir this very eve.........oh wait I can't afford Alcoholic beverages......err, well you get the idea
Cars in my care:
2021 Kia Spottage 1.6 Pez Turbo Dual Clutch Gearbox Trickery
2013 Renner Twingo - donkey work
The only difference permanent residence has made to me here is I don't have to go through all the sillyness registering my car every year. If I want to vote or anything I have to go for citizenship. Yes please, another round of paperwork, fees and other mysterious bullshit, I couldn't get enough of it last time

Citizenship is five years off for me, but this allows me to get the all important PESEL which in turn should allow me to sort out the car thing, but its a step closer to getting my citizenship which i may as well take as i plan on staying for a good while yet.
