Re: Tool Set
Looks good. The ratchets look good quality.
Got a good toolbox a couple years ago and found it handy not just for car jobs, but bits and pieces round the house, the little screwdrivers for taking apart computers and the like.

Re: Tool Set
Wow gary that looks like a bargain them ratchet spanners are the main good point. And the metal looks of a good quality.
I got some challenge tools one time from argos, as a word of warning avoid them. The worst quality shite ive ever used, the sockets crack, screwdriver bits wear away, and everything else in the set ended up in the bin.
The best in the buisness is teng tools. Although they are very expensive they are very good, i use my uncles stuff all the time.

Re: Tool Set
Avoid the Argos cheapies. I've had cheap torx screwdriver bits that end up wearing themselves and the screw down so both are just round and spinning. Also had cheap ratchets that just go.FarmerPug wrote:Wow gary that looks like a bargain them ratchet spanners are the main good point. And the metal looks of a good quality.

I find Draper good quality, even their value range. Can even pick up the odd bit up the market.

Re: Tool Set
cheap screwdriver bits are a plague, i hate them ones that slip. Argos stuff does that very well. I got a set of stanley screwdriver bits which were actually very good, they last about a year.
I did buy a worx drill out of argos a few years back, my uncle got a makita a few months after me. The makita is clapped out and the worx is going very nicely.

Re: Tool Set
i've got a socket set from argos. cost me £46.99
this 1 - it's very good to be honest has never let me down yet apart from me snaping the 1/4 drive ratchet trying to undo a T55 bolt on the caliper
that was my fault tho, silly to even try and undo a T55 bolt on a 1/4 drive ratchet
its this one. its been brilliant. my kids got it me for my 25th birthday
gutted i snapped the 1/4 ratchet tho
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... nformation
i'm definately getting the other set from 1st post.

Re: Tool Set
dont discount Halfrauds if your looking for a decent socket set, my wife bought me this ror xmas
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165572
son has one as well and it comes with a lifetime guarentee, granted its a little bit more expensive but barring losing it i shouldnt need to buy any of these again

Re: Tool Set
I bought the 1/2" drive from that set individually from Halfrauds plus a couple of sockets I needed for a job on the car.
Feels like a good sturdy ratchet.
I feel like I am turning into my dad, getting excited over a good tool.

Re: Tool Set
snap on tools they are equally as good as teng stuff.
this is what i use:
http://www.screwfix.com/prods/49641/Han ... %22%2021Pc
although its not mine i frequently borrow it from my uncle, he also has an old teng tool set that my grampa bought in the 60s and every socket is in great shape, although some are missing.

Re: Tool Set
ive been looking at tools in costcos they look good stuff,
ive got almost every tool going there all old stuff snap on Kamas etc but theyve lasted,
ionce got a tool kit from Argos 80 odd quid it didnt last 5mins ratchets and spanners where as good as plastic,
the old school stuff is better than modern stuff imho.

Re: Tool Set
I went to a car boot sale once bought a load of good tools from some old man who said he was going to the nursing home and didnt need them old stuff but the quality was superb then even cheap stuff was well made from hardened steel. But car boot sales can be real good value even better than ebay
