Re: Shiny Car
The coppers have only stopped me once in my car, it was at one of the many checkpoints we have here, he asked me why the car had no mot disk in the window, i tried to explain the car was from england and they are not needed. So i was then told to pull the car into the side and look for the certificate, he looked at it but not really quite satisfied by it, until thankfully the other policeman came over, he was from england and understood it all, told me it was ok.
I was sh**ng myself, it was only about a week after getting the car.

Re: Shiny Car
They seem very lax about fonts.
A popular one is "Metro" which is like a bold Serif font.
An example of a car with Metro font - http://www.reallymeansounds.com/forum/a ... 0932-3.jpg
Dealers such as SERE and Lindsay Ford fitted the Metro font as standard
Does look a bit better on the cars though.
Can even see HGV lorries with Metro font plates.
When I used to live in Scotland and nipped back, I used to put the GB VOSA MOT sticker on the windscreen as an alternative to the MOT disc. Even phoned DVLNI to confirm that this would be allowed and they said it was OK as it was MOTd in GB.
GAZ was Co Antrim I think it was early 90s it was issued, but is dateless, so can go on any car, 1911 even.

Re: Shiny Car
They change every year, i think we were on BIG for a while which made the plates popular.
If GAZ is an old plate, you could get it off an old car on gumtree.

They don't change on a set date, like say 59 changed to 10 on 1st March 2010.FarmerPug wrote:They change every year, i think we were on BIG for a while which made the plates popular.

They just rollover. So when GAZ got to 9999, they started on HAZ 1001. They keep the sub-1000s for personal plate auctions I think.
GAZ was issued in Belfast I think.
