Re: This Focus is bloody strange...
my best guess is still a warped disc, can you feel the vibration through the pedal and steering wheel or just the pedal?? or even just the steering wheel??Bailes1992 wrote:It ain't the discs.
The old discs were warped and when I hit the brakes I would get very bad wheel wobble.
But theres no steering shake when hitting the breaks bar the usual vibration I'm getting.

Re: This Focus is bloody strange...
Think about it....you had damaged wheels....they must have taken a whack to get damaged, so it isn't beyond reason that a hub could get whacked and damaged as well.
I have never heard of spinning the wheels when checking alignment.
The only way of checking hubs is to follow my advice from earlier.
I would dial gauge the hubs without discs on then with discs on, then I would do it with the wheels on at the edge of the rim.
Yes....don't rule out the driveshaft, but my advice still stands.

My dads primera has a wobble at 60mph, the steering rack was suspected but it turns out also to be warped disks.

You mean you did all that work on the steering rack and front suspension, including an alignment and you nor anyone else noticed that the steering rack was missing 2 bolts and one was loose?

In all fairness I have had a buckled wheel, two nackered outer track rods and a nackered inner track rod so all needed sorting anyway.jasper5 wrote:You mean you did all that work on the steering rack and front suspension, including an alignment and you nor anyone else noticed that the steering rack was missing 2 bolts and one was loose?

My last Ford, an Orion, felt like the steering was feeding input to the wheels through automatic transmittion fluid, rather than any physical connection.
