Oh i miss my Capris :( The wife would KILL me if i got one  And Cav SRI  I had a 1984 hatchback, white, with black Recaros,NOT the later 84 model with unbadged Vauxhall Recaros.A great car, even in 1999.
Yes,the red would remind me of 80`s & 90`s fords too,but i do like the red.My rear tailgate HDI badge is the red i version. Not sure what to do.I polished the car today, done all the black plastic trim,& it looks good now with mt dark window tints & chrome strips.Maybe i`ll just stick with chrome.
My previous Xantia,a 1997 VSX Est had the same chrome trim problems. You would think over the years PSA could get some trim that lasted more than a few years. :)

Well, the stripe arrived & I had a go at fitting it. Don't remember it being as hard when I used to do it. Took ages to get rid of all the curves & wrinkles on the corner of the rear bumper & also found that 2 metres was just enough to make a bol**cks of the tailgate & 1 rear corner. Where the chrome is so rounded, it peels up at the bottom & just generally looks a bit sh*te.

However I haven't totally written the idea off. I know Peugeot supply the mouldings as 1 piece (chrome & the plastic) but I have seen a couple around where the chrome bit has come out of the moulding so am now wondering if the chrome strip could be removed, then painted or covered before getting refitted to the plastic.

Anyone ever given it a go or had the chrome come out of their mouldings to be able to see how it is fixed?

Errr, hold on... it's held in with the same sort of sticky-back foam the strips are stuck onto the car with, tucked in at the ends. You could try giving it some heat with a hair dryer, I managed to get the strip out of the one the Audi driver ruined for me without damaging it just using sunlight and a spatula. The curved bits on the bumper might be a different proposition...

Pleased to report that Steve is spot on with that. Tried on a couple today & I can confirm that all strips will slide out of the trims although I did note that the doors & rear bumper strips have the sticky stuff, but the front bumper had none.

Plan at the mo is to get some strips from a scrappy, cover them with the vinyl & then refit to the car.

See if you can find a complete rear door from an Estate with the newer chrome lion on it. Ought to be a straight swap.
I have chucked my tatty laquer peeling black badge with chrome lion boot badge from a 206.. i did have a bigger boot 307 badge but the frikin lions legs didnt cover the two holes from the original :| , its fixed with superglue lol..so if it needs changing again..il have to budget a respray aswell  looks much better tho i think.

That answers my questions I asked you the other day then. Did ring the Peugeot dealer to ask them about the later 406 badge, but they didn't know & didn't have any in stock to check, so might have a ring around a couple next week to see if any has one in stock. Servicebox only has the 1 part number for the tailgate, so would that mean that they all come with the 2 holes in them for the badge?

I found this on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

Don't think it's genuine Pug, but reckon the size makes it big enough to cover the holes as it's larger than my standard badge was.

The chrome strips on the front and rear bumpers are just clipped in. If you get a small flat screwdriver or similar you can pop them out paint them then clip them back in. The ones on the doors are stuck on with that 3m sticky stuff. I did mine black and it looks quite good.

The tricky part is trying to get them out without cracking them. Had a go in a breakers the other day & one of the door strips cracked taking it out. They were in a terrible condition though which may have contributed to their fragility.

Quite fancy the idea of getting hold of a spare set of mouldings, popping the chrome out, getting them sprayed body colour, then popping the strips back in. Might look quite good.

Have noticed them before & they don't look bad, but to be honest, I wouldn't want mouldings & strips colour coded - I'd either want the chrome left or done in a different colour. I'll probably never do it anyway as my spraying efforts on my other bits aren't going too well & a full set of mouldings will probably cost a fair bit to get sprayed up by a pro.
