Them Merkur XR4Ti's are rare as rocking horse sh*t

I did a few shows when I had my XR4x4 and never did see one

Think i'd rather of had the XR8 though 8)

Talking of V8's, I still regret putting the Astra 16v engine in my Opel Manta, and not going for the Rover V8 conversion instead

I thought I was digressing slightly, but guess i've brought it back round

Didn't realise Cadillac BLSs were rehashed Saabs.

Though they did it before http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac_Catera

Plod - Sounds like you had an interesting car history :)

Was there not someone in BTCC drove a Merkur?

Now that I am a Honda fanboy, a Rover with a Peugeot diesel engine badged as a Honda Concerto diesel

Yes, Andy Rouse, he won the championship in 85, and was class A champion in 86 with the XR4Ti

Don't think it did.

Toyota were linked to GM at one point, so they may have gotten a Vauxhall/Opel/Izuzu diesel engine.

Rover used XUDs and Honda were tied to Rover for a while so used them too. XUDs were fantastic engines.

One of the neighbours has a Corolla, is badged on the wing as a 1.9D like the ZX used to be.

Someone on the internet wrote:
The only time Toyota installed a PSA engine was the 1.9XUD which went out in the Corolla sold up to the end of 2001.
