New cars that will run on vegetable oil

Post by rwb »

As in what you cook chips in (not biodiesel).

I guess I mean engine rather than car.

HDi: No.

So, are there any?

i havnt read anywere that any new car will run on it.

seems the only ones are the old diesel engines fitted pre 98 :? :?

the visocity is to high for current lift pumps used in most common rail diesel engines these days .

would be good to hear that some1 out there has tried it and succeded 8)

Its as slow as an old diesel :cheesy:
I think its any car with direct injection cant run on veg oil.

Perhaps something like the new toyota hilux can run on it, its definatley a strong enough engine to try it out on.

if i was to go down the veg oil route id buy a 405 as opposed to a d8, the same xud engine i think the 405 is a tad lighter though, and less electrics.

Ive noticed the 406 as some 405 bits on it,
not many tho,
but the radio stalk thingy resembles a 405 one, can ifling that out and
add a more Moder - ner one ?

Its not out yet but it wont be in long it makes the car look abit Heinz 57

was there a d8 and d9 405. my two uncles had one of each.
The older 405 was a good reliable workhorse, got treated like shite and went on all day.
The newer one was a well specced car, my dad borrowed it one day to go to work and the engine blew, timing belt was the issue, the second engine was a bad engine which had head gasket issues, the third engine was great, that car went like a clock after it.
I preferred the look and interior of the newer one, it was black, with allows, fogs, and a spoiler it looked very good back then, especially compared to my dads carina of the time.
