Hi! New 406 owner!

Post by OdinEidolon »

Hi all!
I'm Adriano and from Italy. I'm a physics student.
I just bought my first ever personal car. It's a black (where is the colour code located?) 406 2.2HDi, saloon, executive trim. Mind, here the executive trim isn't as full of optionals as your exec is. I do not have leather seats with memory, nor heated and motorized mirrors. However, I do have electric seats, cruise control and automatic rearview mirror (very useful!).
The car is from 2001 and has got 190000km (about 120000 miles - damn you and your nonmetric system!) on the clock. Bought it for 3500€, which is around 3100£. Yes, I know that in UK you can find it chaper!
Still pushes like hell, very good car. On the highway the boardcomputer says I'm doing 56mpg on average, which sounds too good to be true.

I only had two problems so far: water in boot (from the right light I guess) and annoying vibrations of the rearview mirror at low speeds.

Glad to be part of the club!

PS: name comes from a comic. Odin means One in russian, Eidolon means Image/Ghost in Greek.

Hello Adriano & Welcome to the forum. 8)

Is your 2.2 cursed with the dreaded FAP?
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Yep, like all 2.2 it is. But is has already been recharged by the previous owner 10000km ago. I plan to use the car mainly on highways, so the FAP will hopefully last pretty long before needing another charge (which i'll never do since i will remove it).

Thanks for the replies.
