Sam, Sam, Sam, act now to put a stop to this blatant pussy whipping you are surrendering too, it will only get worse and you might as well try putting your foot down now before its too late, comments like " I had no say in this matter" should be the preserve of the married man with kids :oops: not a youngster like yourself :wink:

Right now heres the biggest question of all.
Do I go the motorway?
I have two options.
M4 -> M50 -> M5 -> M42 -> M1
M4 -> M50 -> M5 -> M6 -> M56 -> M60

orr do I go up through the center of Wales.
Breacon -> Llandridnon Wells -> Newtown -> Welsh Pool -> Chester and up the M56/M60 ?

Only thing is SatNav wants to send me on a wild goose chase if I say to avoid motorways. Looks like I'm going to have to use a map :D

Its a long way round the bottom of Birmingam, so even if you're going for the M1 I would go M5 -> M6 -> M42 (A42) -> M1 to J35a
When I lived in Birmigham (near M5 J2) I always went this way.

However I think the M6 is a better road than the M1, so for Holmfirth I would go
...M5 -> M6 -> M56 -> A556 -> M60 -> M67 -> A628 -> A6024
However the A6024 is rather hard work -- especially in a 90hp diesel.

Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

How much is it to use the M6?

As for wine country, nothing beats the south of France. Oh and good roads down there! :cheesy:

Driving through Englandshire last summer we took the M6 toll on the way down, nice fast empty stretch of motorway.

We took the M6 through Birmingham on the way back. Queues, badly rutted surface, roadworks. And Spaghetti Junction was a bit of a let down :(
