D9 center console - better ?

Post by plod »

I've got to have the centre console out of my D8 to sort out the heated seat wiring and switches

I've often grumbled about the lack of a drinks holder in the 406

So, is the D9 centre console worth having?
i.e. does it actually hold drinks ok?
or
do i stick with wedging drinks between the handbrake and the passenger seat

There's only one on ebay at the mo, and they are asking £19.99 or make an offer + postage
might offer £20 all in, although I'd feel happier with £15
ok only a fiver, but you know how it is, not a lot of benefit i.e better drinks holder for the expense

It does not hold drinks, it can hold a tin of juice if its closed, but not a macdonals cup, or a bottle, especially not on cars with an armrest.

i plan to put an ipod dock in my ashtray, at the moment its used for coins.
The cup holders on the other hand hold pens very well, and the circular tin of kiwi shoe polish.

Well I've use my cupholders for bottles of mineral water and the like often enough, (with armrests). Works for me.

The cup holders are very good for the little 250ml "Fun Size" bottles of Coke.

500ml bottles will sit there too (if you use both of the cup holders for this purpose, otherwise they just fall over) - but I reckon they'd foul the arm rests on the seats (if you have them). On the Coupe they get in the way when I'm trying to apply the handbrake, and I bump them a bit with my elbow when shifting gear.

I never allow cans in the car because they cannot be resealed, and I won't permit unnecessary drinks spillage risks.

I once went out with someone who rested an open can of coke on the flat bit of the passenger side dash of a Ford Orion, then shouted at me because it went everywhere as we had to go round a roundabout

D9 cup holder wasn't great, but was better than the Xantia cupholder which was the glovebox lid
On the D9 I could use a drive-thru cup as a makeshift armrest :cheesy:

Quite handy for the commuting essential, pop a few dozen Holand and Barretts vitamin pills and nip into work roaring to go :)

They were the ideal size for cans of beans, useful when there is only 1 shop in the area that sells those nice Big BBQ pork and beans cans :)
