HDI Tuning Boxes

Post by SHD1983 »

Has anyone got any experience with using any of the "plug and play" tuning boxes from the likes of Dragon Tuning and Powerlick that you see on ebay? Are they any good and do they really work. Also do they do any damage? As far as I know all they're doing is remapping the injectors.

I drove a mates Mundano TDCI 130bhp last week and quite like the idea of upping the power of my 406 110 HDI to ~130BHP and 290 NM of Torque.

Those tuning boxes as you have said will only up yours from 110bhp to about 130bhp, however a proper ECU remap for about £320 will take it to 150bhp (yes its adds 40bhp). For an extra £180 you can add another 5-6% more power with a BMC CDA Carbon Airfilter. Take a look at http://www.Angeltuning.co.uk for ECU remap and BMC details. Thats what I want doing to mine, rather than a box.

I know someone who's just got his Fiat Stilo remapped by them, went from 115 to 160bhp without the Airfilter. :)
