i like the take off bit when the plane does the drag race start.
The rest is fairly boring, i hate the feeling in your ears that flying makes, and the bong noise.

As for the passport, i took advantage of being in northern ireland, and have both a UK and ROI passport, which is perfectly legal here, its also handy if one expires before the other.

DON'T let the kids see you frightened of flying - you'll more than likely give them the same fears. Put a brave face on, or take a walk to the lav if you feel wobbly; if they see you being frightened they'll just pick up on that.

At least it's only Spain, so not a long-haul flight. I've never been to Spain - at least you'll have decent weather too

good point that. i'm sure i'll be fine . taking off is good and at alltitude is ok. its the coming down bit thats horrible for me.

i keep telling myself there are hundreds - maybe thousands of take offs and flights every single day from all around the world so surely its a safe place to be .

Missus had to go to Spain urgently the other day as a relative had died, her passport had expired so we went to Newport and got one same day service, £132 please.

ye i looked at that option its outrageous. how the hell do they get away with it.

1 week service = £112
1 day service = £130

kiddies passports £50 each

They also rejected her photo's but "Luckily we have a machine here", so that was another fiver, and fuel from Cheltenham and the severn crossing toll. Plus it's a 4 hour wait, in Newport .

She must have done something wrong on the photos for them to reject them, they don't seem to like it if you look anything other than miserable

I had to renew mine here, it was like the BSI reset procedure - do this, do that, do the other, send your money this way, blah blah blah. I think it cost me about a ton and my new passport was printed in Düsseldorf for some reason.

Gary, flying is safer than driving. It just is. Seriously, right now, there are between 250,000 and 500,000 people in the air.

How many of those have been abused (or in the case of the TSA, molested)?

Been driving for years and only been groped once behind the wheel. I used to love flying, but I absolutely refuse to be terrorised by airport "security", simply cannot spend time camping without my gas stove, and am not about to spend hours cramped into a seat without my painkillers

There's always the channel tunnel - take the train through to Paris and see the sights from there.

ive got stomache problems abit like hernias but a bit worse un operable
can bleed to death on a plane so they told me flying is a big no cabin preasure maybe,

iwas thinking of the tunnel route to france but passport still needed ipresume ?

What I found through looking online:

Although the United Kingdom is part of the European Union (EU), it is not a Schengen country - therefore, you still need to carry a full British 10-year passport (or five-year child passport if you are under 16 and not on a parent’s passport) every time you travel to Europe. This includes day trips and travel by Eurostar.

Many countries in Europe no longer check passports at their land borders, but they still expect visitors to be able to produce a valid form of identification. For UK travellers this is the British passport. Remember, your passport will have to be checked at immigration control when you return to the UK.
