Window motor problem

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Are you certain it's the motor?

Could also be the switch - needs carefully taking apart to clean up - got a guide I can email to you

Also could be chaffed wires - opening and shutting of the door can lead to this

Personally, I've had window problems, and both times turned out to be the switch

When pressing the switch im hearing a click from the motor so i dont know if its broke but like i say i have tapped it a few times with a hammer and still no joy....

The switch is easy to fix, if you can get that one emailed to you its a good guide.
But if thats not the case it sounds like the gearbox/regulator and motor teeth have become jammed which is also possible
heres a guide i did for that:
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=14386&p=134583&hil ... ss#p134583
basically you want to detach the motor from the regulator, and put it back in, hopefully that should get the cogs back in line with eachother.
A bit of wd40 in there when the motor is out would be good also.

hi all. newbie here.

i am having a similar problem. but with the passenger window.

it will go down but not up on the passenger door switch but will not do anything on the drivers door passenger switch.

i believe that this is poss a fault with the drivers switch console and would like to know if anyone can email me the guide on how to clean the console switches before i have to fork out for a new switch console.

all wires have been checked and there are no breaks shorts etc. driver window works as should but the power is not being passed from the driver door to the passenger switch up position.

or if there are any other ideas on what the cause is all are welcome.

many thanks. :!:

the passenger switch buttons ie all the ones bar the drivers button use conventional push to make switches to make the windows move, the drivers switch is the only one that actually has the rubber thing with the contacts (same as how a calculator button works) that get dirty and dont work. The other buttons if they are working should make a nice click noise when pushed up or down, you should feel this, if not then the buttons are not pushing the tabs under them that push the switches.
But the guide is worth getting ill have a look to see if i still have it.
