2000 406 Executive Estate Diesel 1,997 HDI

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

The Engine Autodiagnostic light has come on on the dash came on during a 187 mile trip home. The car is running very well and so not sure what this is. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this autodiagnostic cover yes I know its the engline but what could make this light come on? Purchased this car to replace my 19 year old Audi 100E (A6) Avant. Begining to regret this.

dont regret it just yet. the engine management light could come on for a few different things.

you probably had a fault with a sensor somewere . the only call is a diagnostic test to give you the correct code that relates to the fault

a diagnostic test will give you a number code. this code will tell you why it came on and which sensor is at fault.

Best thing is to find someone local to you with Peugeot Planet who'd probably read it in exchange for some beer tokens

NO DO NOT go to main dealer. you cant actually see a code mate.

you have to let a garage plug in their computer and it will come up on their screen.
