i used incandescant bulbs, they look nicer inisde the car, unless you diffuse (sand to make them rough) the LEDs.
I have a guide on how i overcame the problem with the footwell lights.
But do not just take a wire and draw power from the door card lights, this will make everything electrical go mad.

Although i hated my clio, and it wasnt excessivley unreliable the immobilizer had a tantrum every now and then but that was a case of getting out and locking the car and getting back in.
What i hated really hated about my clio was how shite it felt, the gearchange was so fecking vague, it moved up and down when you sped or slowed down, and the steering was so lifeless and dead you thought renault mounted it in playdough, really i had a flat tyre and there was no communication through the steering to let me know this was happening. And the seat was very uncomfortable.
A shame really because the clio had quite a good chasis, it handled well just the crap drive took away from this.
Back to the subject the clio had windows that stayed on for a while, so to did my fiat panda.

i drove a mk1 petrol it hasnt got the sh*t gearbox, or the crap power steering devoid of feel. Basically its a better driving car.

you couid actualy Shoe horn anice Volvo engine in some of them,
never tried it tho,

Why does the BSI complain? I suppose it refuses to send more Ampéres than normal down the lights channel, right?

its being overloaded, its too sensitive, unfortunatley its not a relay that will blow its the whole bsi that goes mad.
The ldr system is good, it avoids the bsi, and if you want to add lights in the door handles, which some have planned (i might do it some time) it would allow that very easily, without going near the bsi

I mean:
if current passes through the sniffer (current that goes to the top light) a circuit is turned on (the direct 12v from the battery), if current stops, circuit is off.

Well then I do not get what use is the light diode instead of another relay connected to the top light (seems more simple to me), but probably I'm just missing something, I'm tired.FarmerPug wrote:the system has a relay built into it.
I'm not criticizing, the opposite, I'm only trying to understand what you did since I wanted to do that too. I see your system could have more expansion possibilities, but I don't see why my system wouldn't be as effective.
By the way, anyone could find a reason why my window glasses act so stupid?

ah right your on about feeding a relay with the signal from the light.
the thing is that the peugeot handbook states that if you are not advised to add anything that consumes more than 10 miliampres of power, and from what the discussion we had on footwell lights back when i was installing them a relay does consume a bit more than that, after my experience with the BSI i went for the 100% safe option of the opto isolated LDR method.

10ma its crazy all right, it makes adding extras on a nightmare.
im sure you can get relays that comsume very little but with the risks on the bsi you need an opto isolator.

Maybe this could be a way of doing things: It could be possible to substitute the light bulb with a LED and the relay. Since the LED will consume much less amps than the bulb it will probably stay inside specifics even with the relay (which consumes much less than the bulb too).FarmerPug wrote:10ma its crazy all right, it makes adding extras on a nightmare.

That was discussed I thought an led would lack the ambience of the bulb just me being fussy. It might work

Do you know if the boot light is BSI controlled too?
I ust made a nice modification Friday: led light in the non smokers kit. The bulb was heating too much and risked to melt plastic, also now the leds turn on only then the kit is open.
