I wanted to paint my front calipers today, but the misses said I was taking her out :(

Severly jealous of anybody who has provision for working on their car outside their house
We have a parking area for where I live
Not so easy to work on your car
Especially when it's on a slope

Will get them done soon though one way or another

One front caliper done!

Fecking useless wanking dentist!!

Last year when the volcano erupted in Iceland we turned up and was told he was stuck in Hungary
We ran you yesterday to tell you but no reply
Yeah! was at work!!
Why the feck didn't they send a letter at start of week saying he ring before coming as chance he might not get back! Derr

When they do send letters out, they send you one to say you haven't made an appointment, and have made you one when you already have one! Derr!
Did that 3 times and on the third one they didn't put any postage on it
We went to callers office to fetch not knowing it was them, had to pay postage plus fine on two letters and turns out it's them doing the same again when we already have an appointment GRRRRrrrrrrr!!! :x :x

Turns up on time to appointment this morning
No cars in car park and all locked up!
Hung round for 10 mins and guess what, when we enquire it will be, oh well we didn;t realise it was easter when we confirmed the appointment and thought you'd realise
TWATS!!!!

Oh well, better get back out there and paint the other caliper before taking my son to his martial arts class

Nice to rant off now and again

I will admit, i've done the front brakes in situ

If I decide to keep the car a bit longer, i'll see if I can aquire some front calipers and send them off to be refurb'd and do a proper job then.

Even so, looks better - well to me anyway

It's one of them weird jobs
If you do it an obvious colour, then it stands out
If you go like I did with Black it doesn't really show that much
But then it's not so easily noticed
But it's better than rust, but not obvious

It's like the wiper arms
You don't notice them too much being painted, so again "Not Obvious"
but compared to being scabby, so much better

On way back from picking up my lad from his martial arts class, the blower went off when hitting a bump

Hit another bump and it's back on

Thought if I've got to prat around with the wiring of the blower, i'd get to fitting the feed for the heated seats
Well, car was reading 31 when I started, and got the centre console out, the kick plate in passenger side, wiring clips, the white clip on the bulkhead, and kick plate running along sill
However when it got to 35 and I was sweating like a P I G pig, and thought I heard someone shout Suey!
I knew it was time to quit
Will have another go in the morning providing it's not peeing it down

I Previously had trouble with the blower wiring in the past, and think there was a white plug that was shorting out
This was chopped out and some high rating spade connectors were fitting, but now seems these are failing

Not sure which is best approach now?
Do I fit a heavy duty connector block or some other form of connector?

Just done a bit more

Completely stripped back the secondary loom, and cut off all the plugs so got plenty of wiring available
Tidied all these up ready for use

The heated seat wiring is a tad short for my liking :
Wiring from switches to seat plugs for the live is fine
Earth from seat plugs need extending
Earth from switches needs extending
Live for illumination needs extending
Going to extend the live feed wiring, as I bought one of those small reels at 2.2m and seems close but rather than struggling....................

Plenty of wiring from the above ready to use for extending the wiring
Just need to find a soldering iron I can borrow so I can solder together and heat shrink up

I've also had the "famous grommet" out and made another hole in it and fed some 27amp wiring through it, and up to the engine bay fuse box
I have an inline fuse holder ( bought same one as I used for the feed for the seats )
Again, I need a soldering iron, to attach this this to the 27amp wiring

Anyway this ain't getting the job done is it

P.S.
Oh, before I forget, I had the cover off from the ECU ( plug has Bosch on it )
The wiring only goes to an earth on the strut top, and the rest goes round the front of the engine
I say this because someone showed a pic ( can't bloody find it for love or money whilst searching ) of the route of wire 1368 if fitted to the car but not wired in
This ( if fitted ) goes from the ecu along the strut top to bulkhead, along the bulkhead to the passenger side

Whilst the grommet is out, i'm going to feed another wire through it to connect up to wire 1368
Thus seems i'm going to have to go all the way to the ECU for trip computer functionality

P.P.S.
As for the blower wiring, my electronics wiz friend, suggests I would have to pay £10 to £20 for decent enough connectors to handle the current
He says if I want he'll bring his gas soldering iron into work, and solder them together instead and heat shrink them up
He also said it's not his favoured way of doing things, but if I need to take the blower out, it's just a case of desoldering, so works out a better option

Got the exact same kit, Gaz. Doing odd jobs round the house, on the PC etc. Really good value, IMHO.

Such a nice day, everyone I tried was out

Will get the soldering done another day i'm afraid

Also fitted 7metres of 5amp wiring ready for the feed from the ECU for wire 1368

Grommet back in position and sealed with silicone to prevent any water ingress

To be honest i'm crap at soldering, so a mate has offered to do the soldering for me, so it will be done in the next few days ( subject to work )

Getting there though
No major rush though
It ain't like I need a warm bum - I managed that yesterday after the Stagg Chilli I had the night before
