Re: You're going to think i'm mad but your help appreciated
I would prefer an Estate for load lugging capabilities
A 2.2 would be nice for the defap and remap like your good self
BUT
the fact that it's considered "almost" impossible to remove the injectors out the head of the 16v, or so i'm told, is niggling me
The 110 is more a known quantity I guess
I did thing the SE was the one I want, but the Executive still seems better spec'd up
Although not fan of the walnut trim, but I can get the trim professionally painted if required
Don't mind if it needs a odd panel sorting as my mate can sort but generally needs to be decent condition
We've got some money due, and thought it would be here by now, but still going through, and didn't really want to spend more than 2k
(When I was looking at the damaged 110 estate, I just borrowed £1k to buy it from the bank of mum and dad to paid it straight back )

Hear what you're saying on injectors, (I may be finding out soon), but, if you're quick http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-406-2-2-D ... 2c5c14f0d1plod wrote:I would prefer an Estate for load lugging capabilities

(Can't gaurantee 180 bhp remap will work for all pre-mux cars, but a good chance it will).
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)

2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

It'd be an easy enough job to change the walnut for the black wood that I've got. Have you driven a 2.2 yet? I can certainly vouch for one as my old C5 was standard, but had a brilliant powere band on it. Never felt gutless at any revs.plod wrote:I would prefer an Estate for load lugging capabilities

Although the 2003 Exec on ebay at mo is all black interior, so the black wood would get lost
No, not driven a 2.2
I would hope it's not gutless
Been out for a bit, and the boost just doesn't drop off in my 110, just keeps going
So would hope a 2.2 isn't a disapointment - would have to mean defap and remap would have to come sooner rather than later

But if you look at the Q&A in that it says bodywork well worn!lozz wrote: ideal car to fix up as the pannels are tidy![]()
Anyway, not going to do anything now until after the plodmobile has been mot'd as only a month left on it
When i'm ready the requirements will be
No older than 2002
110 or 136 HDi
Estate preferably but not essential
Higher the spec the better - SE or Executive, may consider SRi or GTX - nothing wrong with lower spec'd cars but saves me updating them which i'd undoubtably do

Max mileage of 150k

3hrs left and its on £190
my point was mate the pannels are not kicked in,
something like that couid be made into something nice Rip out the interior add some Nimrods and it wouid look smart,
and it still wouidnt cost much to have it nice and road worthy,
id sooner buy acar for cheap and mod it than go out and buy one for good money

the 2.2 looks like it could be a good motor and the price isnt too silly at the moment, just think what a de-fap and map could give you too

Does look pretty smart, if you could get it on the road for about a grand, you'd be larfing.

Being a 51-plate, it's probably Com2000 / lifty-up reverse gear, like wot mine is.
Description doesn't mention any DPF or indicator issues, so if you buy it & find some, you can tell him to poke it, (or accept a lower price).

That does look like a good buy, but I wouldn't expect it to end too cheaply due to the location & mileage - cars down this end seem to get better prices & this one does look like a good one. No towbar on the back is a rarity for any 406 diesel these days & it does seem to only need little jobs doing. Two of the advisories would be solved simply by fitting your alloys to it.
This one here:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p
looks like a bargain to me. Probably be sold by the weekend, but gives a good price benchmark for the Ebay one.

Re: You're going to think i'm mad but your help appreciated
Would I be unwelcome on the forum, if I went one step further and bought this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT
The bank rang me up earlier and was trying to get me to add to the mortgage ( only stands at 17K at mo )
They want me to take 2k to clear my credit card, and said they'd happily give me another 2k
Obviously 2k won't be enough, and even if this car makes 2.5k, at 95k miles and next clutch and DMF last month
So even if I put 4.5k on the mortgage, I still only owe 21.5k on my mortgage
Thought the misses would put a total block on it, but she's dead keen

Re: You're going to think i'm mad but your help appreciated
I think that looks lovely, but I'd say it'll go for a substantial amount more than the £2k it is at the mo as completed listings shows the cheapest SE with less than 100k fetching £3000.
Pros:
Refined
Well equipped
Well maintained with no major bills due yet
Probably more economical than an older HDi too
BUT
Definite FAP work to do (either de-fap or service) on what will already be a more expensive car
Later HDis seem to have this reputation for eating turbos, so any future maintenance may be more costly when it does come up
Short MOT - if I was selling & that confident I'd MOT it, but I did once buy a BMW with less than a months MOT from a Dr & it sailed through.
Not too sure about this bit though:
Personally though, if I was in the market, I'd go £3500 on it, but I'd also want another £500 in the kitty ready for any issues that may pop up as it's Ebay & a private sale.

As he doesn't mention the engine light being on anywhere else. The pollen filter warning light is on, i have had this checked when i had it serviced and they said it was fine but the light remains on, same as the engine light but again, this car is in daily use and the garage said there are no problems or faults coming up when the plug the machine in.
