Stopped by the police again. 5th time.

Post by DiscoPol »

Picture the scene, its been a long easter sunday, most people started drinking about 8am this morning after the traditional 40 days of lent so no meat no alcohol etc etc.
I on the other hand have a killer chest infection at the moment and am taking Antibiotics so no alcohol, you guessed it i am "des" for just about everyone.
After a long day partying and seeing friends i am on my return trip after my last taxi drop of the night and at about 1am as i round a bend in the road i am met with the sight of the local Policja and his rather sexy looking Alfa traffic car waving his illuminated traffic baton for me to pull in, I duly do and wait for him to come to me, (you don't get out here before they get to you) as he approaches my door i open it slightly and the following conversation happens

Me: Good evening officer, Im sorry i dont speak Polish but i have my documents here if you would like to see them
Police officer: No speak Polish?
Me: No sorry mate only English.
Police officer: Go!
Me: Dziękuje bardzo, dobranoc.
Police officer: *puzzled look*

Now the parting shot of "thank you very much, Goodnight" in his native language was a pure slip of the tongue but it made me smile as i drove away.

so the scores on the doors so far

Disco : 5
Policja : nil

How long can i get away with this blatant abuse of my native tongue i wonder

your right that is very sexy looking,
especially compared to the octavias we have here, the police look like a fleet of well dressed taxi drivers.

hehe too true.

Octavias and mk1 Vectras.

But then I suppose Alfa don't offer a bulletproof option. I think Lancia do, the unmarked cars of Rome police seemed to have the huge framed dark windowed look on their Thetas.
Also, I wouldn't fancy getting stuck in some of the areas here after dark and have the Alfa electrics kick in
Suspension bushes get wrecked on the speed bumps too.

PSNI did have some Mitsubishi Evo pursuit cars. But then, when the longest motorway is 60 miles, and they give up on chasing, preferring speed cameras, and from what I heard the occupants hate the bucket seats :P

Moving house and taking the heating oil with us in drums.
Checkpoint on the road, with the threat etc.

Would have been interesting trying to explain

Half a tyrell tank of home heating oil.
Wouldn't fancy running a Honda on it! :)
No way am I leaving the letting agents / new tenants it, price of oil and considering that when we moved in to the place, the fuel tank was jacked up on bricks on one side to get the dregs.
We put 4 buckets of emergency oil in, then when their handyman levelled the tank it didn't even register on the gauge, we had to get a fill anyway.

I've seen a few unmarked cars here its very easy there was a golf v6 and focus st so they do know about a fast car
Still not an alfa isn't the 159 meant to be a big step up for alfa quality levels

Unmarkeds round town tend to be Octavias. If not a taxi, then it's John Law :)
A few tasty VRSs too!

This is true, newest Mondeo they use was the mk3 "new edge" type, and the newest Vectras seem to be the mk2 pre-facelift with the square lights.

They used to love their mk3 Granadas back in the day.
