Electrician Help Please.

the power is temporarially just coming from an extension lead from the house.
There is a big power cable beside the shed was there as my uncle who built the house planed to put a greenhouse down here.
Thanks for your help disco, so ill get them MCBS and that RCD with Overcurrent protection sounds like a good device.

FP that RCBO is to be used in place of one of the MCBs it does both jobs, mcb and rcd, so in theory you would need one on both circuits that you are thinking of using for the sockets, but maybe have one socket rcbo protected and one mcb protected, that way if you have something that trips the rcbo (as sometimes happens even when it seems safe enough) then you can stick it in the mcb protected socket and it wont be affected by the earth leakage.

but yes that makes sense, i have one side of the shed just for the drill charger, phone, tv etc, the other side can be used for the same again but just with the addition of power drills and angle grinders.
No plans to use a welder here.

The things arrived, thats a very efficent company TLC, cheap prices even if dave and nick want some pocket money aswell.
I have it all wired up nice and neat, earths are all insulated:

remember the bit about the main power cable, i found some cooker wire, more than double the thickness of the stuff coming in:

the picture doesnt do it justice, its 6mm thick stuff really good.
I managed to put a plug on, and it all works, when i press test the Rcbo turns off, and back on again, everything else is working.

But one more thing. for the outdoor light and inside light there isnt a switch, can these trips be used as a switch all the time, or is it better to buy a proper switch?

Buy a swith FP, those breakers aren't really built to be switched on and off too often, there is a bi-metal strip inside that helps them pop when over current and other thin metal springs and the like, so the more often you switch them the weaker they will become and you will need to replace them eventually, so for the sake of a quid or whatever it is grab your self a 2 gang surface mounted switch, if possible i would go for double pole, but thats just the voice of too many neutral faults speaking when changing lamps in damp places

If i was paying you to do the job, i would insist you ripped it out and started again this time dressing all the cables properly

but as long as everything is tight and there are no nicks in the insulation on the cables nothing there looks too bad, just go over everything again with the screw driver just to make sure its all tight, the last thing you need in a wooden shed is a build up of heat due to a loose connection in the consumer unit

ah, as nice as that might look, im not too fussy about the wires being neat in the shed, they are all tight and insulated and at and i drew a diagram of where they all are to avoid drilling into one.

i went over all the plugs and put on that earth sleeving stuff. So they are all safe now.
And then got an old desk out of the garage, put it in here, but when soldering i found the shelf made it a bit dark, so here is the desk lamp:

but i have the iphone so its not all that bad.
apart from the fact i only get 1 bar of signal in my shed.
