Well, the scrappy is coming to collect my old saloon today. She'll be gone by the time I get home tonight.

I had the car from November 2008 - bought with just 26,000 miles on the clock, one previous owner. In the 2 years I was driving her, I more than doubled the mileage. She took me to and from work every day, and on weekends, just about everywhere else - to York, Dundee, Stonehaven, St. Andrews, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Stirling, Wick, Thurso... the list just goes on and on.

She was the first truly great car I've ever owned. Properly comfortable, stylish, and despite being nearly 12 years old, she still looked like a considerably newer car.

And to the White Van Man who is responsible for her being scrapped, rather than sold to a new loving owner... f*** you. May tarantulas lay their eggs in your scrotum, which later hatch in a most painful manner. I hope you step on an up-turned electrical plug in your bare feet. I wish you would accidentally scrape your genitalia with a cheese grater, then douse them in lemon juice in a misguided effort to soothe the pain.

Sorry to hear. Always sad to get rid of a car with so many memories. But, at the end of the day, you still have the coupe and you are uninjured.

All over Scotland with it. If it had been a few years earlier could've waved in St Andrews What is the parking charge there up to now? Bound to be at least £2 an hour onstreet with those silly vouchers.

It is true that you have a sad story there Highlander and, being the kinda chap who'd be holding back tears at the sight of a new trolley-ding, I can understand totally your frustration but you can still look outside and see your Coupe and you still have paid work so you're a winner - best to see this as a weight off your shoulders I think

Here's a sad tale; my Volvo is currently covered-over in my garage 24hrs a day whilst I figure out what to do about the 10 months finance remaining @ £244.00/month at the same time as having to accept a pay cut of £250.00/month Net at the same time as it needing a £300.00 dealer service next week otherwise it will be rendered worthless to future (rather naive) buyers at the same time as trying to pay a £251.00 debit on the Gas/Electric (bastards) at the same time as EVERYTHING rocketing in price

I'm currently then flopping about in the spare works Ashtray van (until 'they' realise that's what I'm actually doing and take it off me).

Anyone want to buy a 2.5 petrol with outstanding finance? anyone?

Sorry to hear about your money worries, Welly - it's never fun, trying to balance the books - even worse when your work is being crap to you and cutting your pay.

The Coupe isn't wholly-owned by myself yet; I took out a £3k loan to pay for it. I'd hoped to have put the money from the sale of the saloon into the loan account to reduce my monthly payments - it should have sold for as much as £1,000 in it's pre-accident condition - but van-driving arse put paid to that.

Must confess to having a bit of a lump in my throat as I left for work this morning.

Oh yeah - noticed on the news today that Shell's profits for Q1 are up 41% on last year, despite the skyrocketing cost of oil production. Funny that... Bastards.

Iwas gutted when i had to scrap my o3 laguna brought a lump to my throat that seeing it go on back of a waggon,
icouid of fixed it but it was just one of them cars iwanted to kick all the pannels in on electrical problems on it drove me mad ,

Makes me feel a little bit better about mine behaving like a bitch - nothing owing on it, she's all bought & paid for. My only bug bear is not being able to get on the housing ladder. One of the main reasons I stick to cheap cars (under £3k) is that I don't like to use the house deposit as it's taken me long enough to get it where it is. Up to £20k now, which would be perferct for a 1 bed starter flat or home, but useless for a 3 bed house round here - unless you want to move from renting a house in a knacker estate to paying twice as much for a mortgage on another one!

Somebody did once say to me - somebody who I considered to be a bit loaded - that if you've got nothing in the bank, but don't owe anybody anything then you're better off than 75% of the population. I've got a credit card that I use for everything, but only use it for the Tesco Clubcard points & I have a separate bank account that I transfer money into everytime I use it so that the bill gets paid as soon as I get it each month.

Out of curiosity, how much did the scrappy offer to take the saloon Graeme?

Might as well have been tuppence. They are giving me £150 for the car, but will be deducting some money for the cost of transporting it to their yard, and for taking my Powerflow and the alloy wheels off the car.

I'll be getting the Powerflow refitted to the Coupe at a later date, but the wheels will be sold on.

I couldn't remove the spoiler; it had stuck fast to the boot - the gel pads had set like concrete; the clamps round the boot lid were completely unnecessary - it was going nowhere. Real hammer-and-chisel time if I wanted to persist.

I also couldn't remove the chrome door handles - f*cked if I could figure out how the hell to take those off.

I have for sale:

2x JBL rear parcel shelf speakers from a 406 Coupe (includes the grilles)
2x sun visors with the lights on the mirrors (untested)
2x those little rubber mats that sit in the cubbyhole behind the ashtray/under the centre console
4x 15inch Peugeot 307 "Apollo" alloy wheels (rims only, no tyres)

I have some other bits as well, but I can't remember off the top of my head. The mats are sold, but I haven't got them packaged for shipping yet.

They are from a 307, so the offset isn't quite right for the 406. Can't remember what the offset is - when I get them back from the scrappy, I'll let you know. Despite the offset not being quite right, they do fit on the 406 without any spacers, and clear the calipers (by mere millimetres).

They could do with a bit of refurbishment, as they're lightly kerbed and scuffed (they were like that when I got them) - the only serious damage seems to be a deep score across one of the spokes on one of the wheels.

There's an identical set on eBay at the moment for £150 plus £30 P&P - that set has some mis-matching, part-worn tyres on them. How would £80 plus P&P sound?

The offset on the 307 wheels (Apollo) is 27mm on 6Ins wide wheels. The Corails on Farmer's Exec is 18mm on wheels of the same width. They'll sit 9mm further inside the arch.

Sorry about your car Highlander, I was hoping it would pass the mot so that I could come up and buy it then drive it back here to refurbish and restore to a good condition, sadly that wasn't to be...Unfortunately,I couldn't drive up with a trailer to pick it up, or I would have.

that engine done no milage,could have got ya 800 to 1000 quid bud,plus all the other bits.
sure lots of peeps on here would have come picked the bones.
