corsa handbrake[not 406] you have to laugh

Post by omega »

my mrs has one of these and its a good little car but the handbrake cable snapped.
a quick look and they have a 2 piece cable and i could see that the right hand side was broke, bit of a result i thought as this is only a short cable so of i went to get a new one.got the new one and after lots of blood and sweat managed to get the ajuster free so went to fit the new one.
a bit later its all back together handbrake ajusted and working fine on the drive so feeling pleased took it for a drive to test it on a hill, put the handbrake on AND THE THING PULLS ALL THE WAY UP.
not happy so drove home thinking the ajuster had come loose but no not that simple, got under neth to see that the other side has broke   .
told the mrs and she things its well :cheesy: :cheesy:
got to remove the exhaust heat gaurd to get to this 4 nuts and ive broke one so leaving it to soak in wd40 for half a hour.

You should always replace Corsa handbrake cables as a set....I've never taken off the under shield to replace the cables.
