I have done this the big old 406 isnt as slow as i may complain of. Them typical shitbox small petrol cars with big exhausts, rave music and someone driving with the seat back too much for their height. The torquey hdi is much better, it pulls away from the lights with nearly no revs, and doesnt really fuss.

Doggy's attempts to retain the moral high ground may have to wait, as today's incident was just too funny......

While attempting to work my way through all of the obnoxious jobs I've put off for too long, today I dragged the three decomposing, foam-backed carpets the previous owners left on my loft out, to dispose of.

To try to give you the whole picture, my house is 1930's design - roof tiles, with no felt and losts of gaps where all the crap of ages has gathered. There used to be 4 blast furnaces and a coke oven or two about 200 yds upwind from here, so you can imagine the loft's a tad dusty......

Long story short, dragged all the crap out to the trailer, set off for tip....

On the way back, a local Mr Midlife-Crisis, gives me a blast on the horn for not pulling away on amber at the lights, then sets about blasting past in his Mazda roadster........

Picture, if you can, the cloud of carpet backing debris that eminated from the trailer once I got past about 50

For some obscure reason, said Mazda, seemed singularly incapable of getting by the Dogmobile plus trailer combo, (perhaps it was only a 40W. Mazda)?

Anyway, I managed to accelerate just enough to keep the front end of his car more or less level with the back of the trailer.

Today, as you may have noted, was somewhat breezy. This, together with the steadily increasing velocity, did a thorough job of removing every last scrap of foam rubber from the trailer.

I like to think a good proportion found it's way into a bright red, open-top receptacle, some thoughtful individual had positioned behind, and slightly to the right of the trailer....

The rapidly approaching concrete chicane, erected recently to prevent HGV's crossing the damaged railway bridge, unfortunately brought this jolly pastime to a premature conlcusion. Whether Mr Midlife finally acknowledged he wasn't getting past or simply concluded there was no more foam rubber to collect, I will never know.

In time, I will come to terms with it.

i once got tailgated by a D8, it was in the 30mph zone, i couldnt understand why a fellow 406 owner would do this, but when it came to the end of the 30mph zone i just planted the car and away it went, the car following me seemed unable to continue tailgating.
Id love a sign in the back of the car that illuminated if a car/van/lorry got too close to me saying NO TAILGATING, then the closer they get the stronger the sign would shine.
