Only if it was registered after March 2001 when the emissions tax started.

Other way round. Older HDis are more expensive because the low emissions isn't counted before March 2001 so we just get the £215 a year because they're over 1500cc. Doesn't necessarily mean it'll stay that way for long though as the government seems to leave the older tax brackets alone, but revises the emissions tax bands every year. My old 55 plate Mondeo used to be £40 a year cheaper to tax than a pre-2001 car, but now it cost my Mum slightly more to tax it than it cost me to tax my X reg Pug.

Where we are the roads are as good as country lanes ithink there referd to as un adopted roads or something where the council strays away from fixing them,
its a case of throwing the car about somedays to avoid holes,
iborrowed my mates car one day whilst the puggy was in for its mot,

ismashed the front nearside wheel had to go and buy him a new alloy and tyre,
council said it was my own fault and we wont foot any claims for pot holes :?

VED goes up every year.

Just does :(

And it doesn't go into the roads, thats why they cleverly called it "Vehicle Excise Duty" and not "Road Tax".

It goes to pay bankers massive wages so that they can take their MP friends for spins in their Porsches and dinner parties in their Southbank penthouse apartment suites.

The roads will get less spending due to the country being on the brink of bankruptcy. Some roads are like an obstacle course. Dodge the potholes. Luckily someone (roads service?) took it upon themselves to spraypaint around the potholes, so it's a bit like playing asteroids avoiding the outlines.

The Honda is pre-2001 so is on the old rate of greater than 1.5 litre.

I know someone has a Vectra VXR, their car tax is about £450 a year

They shouid scrap road tax,
and do a pay as you go thing where you pay a fee when you use the car on the roads Maybe!
it wouid make it more fair then aspose,
theres people out there that tax a car for 12mths and the car is only used for journeys once a week,
and the cars parked on there driveway/garage more than its used, :?
