idont think the dash parts Suit that colour,
black or blue ithink is the best colour for em but a spose if its got a Sandy coloured leather seats it wouid blend in a spose,
if it was mine tho id bin that steering wheel and get the Rattle cans out ,

im sort of thinking Grey isn too bad after all after seeing that,
everyone as differnt tastes tho so there will be conflict in that opinion natualy

It's a bit... expensive.FarmerPug wrote:i have everything gps box, antenna, remote, relay but no type c displayOdinEidolon wrote:Yep and yep. I wasn't planning this upgrade yet, but I'll look around for a type c display when I go to a scrapyard for something else.highlander wrote:It will work without GPS; I haven't tested this myself, but I remember FarmerPug connecting one up to his car. Does your car have the CD autochanger cartridge in the boot? Also, does your car have a trip computer at the moment?
Be aware that the Type C display is controlled using an infra-red remote control handset - if you do buy a Type C display, make sure you get the remote control with it, and test that it's working. Without the remote control, you will be unable to set the date/time, the language settings, whether you want temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, or whether you want your trip computer to measure average speed in MPH or KPH.

Re: Coupè steering wheel on saloon
i seen that, its not worth it, unless it was new and came in a dust free air tight bag, inside the lion chevron box, which came as part of a golden chest delevered along with a lorry load of diesel.
£40 is what sensible buyers put the type c displays up as, i got the last one on here but it didnt work so it was returned, too many of them loose the lines, and as far as i can see they cant be fixed once the lines go.

Re: Coupè steering wheel on saloon
i have that option on my estate, but i wont give a damn about it... not worth... you can just by a normal and 200% better GPS on your closest electro domestic equipment store ... this is my opinion, even if you want it to look nice then the normal type B display, not worth either ..

Re: Coupè steering wheel on saloon
I'ts true, the GPS is crap but the possibility to see 3 different informations (fuel consumption etc) is definitely interesting. I'll look around for one too now. And it's your fault!FarmerPug wrote:i like the 2 trip computers on the type c and the way it gives more info the sat nav its sh*t though i put it in to finish the executive spec other than that my iphone with the google maps app is better

Re: Coupè steering wheel on saloon
its an absolute rip off for the display, a good computerist (which im not) could probably make some better setup with a colour lcd and a few chips, and its not impossible, i know a man a computerist auto electrician who took out the dot matrix display in a vw caddy and replaced it with the colour screen out of a hp Pda, reprogrammed a lot of things, added modules and chips to make it work, it looked really cool, he put the key in and the vw logo came up and spun around.RayneR wrote: Yeah apart from that " picky " thing ( well i'm picky too) it is not worth it, GPS is obsolete and crap .. that thing it's nice indeed but it costs a lot of £££ for such a little thing ... the display is just plug and play right ?
Back to the subject, the display is and isnt plug and play, you can plug it in there, if your lucky it will work ok no problem, but i found the steering wheel controls, the cd changer and a few radio functions did not work with it in, i would have needed to get the pp2000 going but since the display was not working i just sent it back.
Re: Coupè steering wheel on saloon
Not impossible, but very difficult. The trouble is PSA cars use the propriety VAN bus protocol for networked communication where other manufacturers use CAN, i2c or other well-documented serial busses. This means not only do you have to handle the non-standard baud rate yourself but also reverse engineer the higher level protocols involved. A few people have looked into this over the years and pretty much given up because the time investment required is really not worth itFarmerPug wrote:its an absolute rip off for the display, a good computerist (which im not) could probably make some better setup with a colour lcd and a few chips, and its not impossible,
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: Coupè steering wheel on saloon
Ok so now I've gotten my shipping from Ade I have some steering wheels to play with.
There are 3 types of steering wheels: D8, early D9 and late D9
D8: with spaces for thumbs, slim
early D9: thicker, airbad with more diagonal shape and a slight horizontal angle in the upper part
late D9: the ones with the wire inside, if you look near the stalk you can see several holes behind the wheel itself. The airbag is also different.
first: my saloon wheel and all the coupé wheels I have are the same diameter.
second: Ade says D8s and early D9s are fully compatible. No problem. They physically fit for sure, they really look the same. But the horn???? Maybe the switch can be moved?
third: late D9 is physically compatible only with late D9.
fourth: the D8 steering wheel is definitely the best imho, the space for the thumbs ad the slighter thinner form really make for better driving feeling (well I've yet to install any of them, but trying them on the table...)
