Eww no the bx was shite,
iborrowed one off a mate once, iwas car hunting so ineeded a car to run round in
my mate said just keep your eye on the green fluid,
3hours later it had no clutch or brakes steering was mega heavy icrash boxed it all the way home and give it him back,
he wasnt pleased
ah thats just the citroen in it, the lhm in older ones did everything steering, brakes (although not the handbrake), suspension and the clutch. if you have a leak everything goes.
I had one i bought off a neighbour, it had a leak, it stayed up for a while, it was very comfy, and it had been stored in a garage for about 8 years, first turn of the key and it worked.
the door handles felt very cheap, the indicator stalks made cocktail sticks look solid.
Wasn't laughing at it! I just saw you mention older Citroens, and I remembered I'd seen one of these.

Feckin horrible car but they where quick well petrol ones where
itried fixing the pipes on one it was a mare igave up ireplaced most of the pipes with lines from a pub
the pipe that was actualy gone after changing most of them was behind the engine so engine had to come out to get at it,
that interior looks strange (a bit crap also), the one i had was a pre facelift so it had the cx style satelites, quite mad looking and i bet it squeaked and rattled like an old citroen, but it was a nice old thing, the boot was huge, i put 2 washing machines in there.
it went to the scrapyard quickly, i planned to restore it being impressed with the mechanicals, but the metal in it was rusted away to shite the a pillar where it met the door was so bad one hinge wasnt in place anymore.
i thought that sort of madness is fantastic, and this was the 80s, then there was the bx digit:
its the way they were so different than other cars that i appreciate, sure the materials arent great but they had fun with them, compared with the worlds most boring dash:
wasnt this just typical of the 80s with a touch of citroen.
but its a subjective thing, i like the fiddly old hifi appearance of these old citroen dashboards, they may not be as appealing as an audis dash but they are interesting, you do have to look for a while just to see where everything is.
I also liked the 305s dash, it was just functional, although i liked the way the buttons illuminated perfectly and not like there was a bulb behind them, the light was even.
anyhow enough on dashboads back to safety, the citroen visa convertable.
I remember Procon 10, it was something about a steel cable that went around the front of the car and the steering column, so if the front collapsed the cable pulled the steering wheel out of the way.
Perfect for all those scarf-wearing silly bints out there
ahy she does seem to be a bit of an airhead swerving all over the place because of a scarf, pull the thing off.
The procon ten is why my dad bought his audi 80, he seen one in an accident was impressed by how it had coped, and thought it was the bees knees.
The downside is after an accident the car isnt as easy to fix, though a hopeful gumtreer would just try and pull the steering wheel back out.
I remember that, but that's more or less what used to happen - in a head on the steering wheel would collapse, leaving just the steering column to ruin your suit.

That's the same downside as crumple zones, areas designed to collapse first in an accident just fold up at the slightest provocation

Maybe if you pull the steering wheel back out the cable will pull the front of the car back into shape!
